50% more in property taxes?

Of course the blue cities want your tax dollars for THEIR usages. Not sure I’d want 20% sales tax (isn’t UK VAT still 17% 🤷‍♂️), but 10% wouldn’t kill me - heck been paying .0825 since I’ve lived here. I’m pretty sure a few more percent would still be WAY less than I pay annually in Federal taxes. But I don’t think the State can stop IRS from collecting Federal monies - which are the most wasted as far as I’m concerned. At least our local taxes go to police/fire/streets, etc. I’m pretty sure Texas could do a better job with SNAP and such, so maybe States should take over all that. Of course, the current blue States will be bankrupt in no time since they turn a blind eye to fraud and those illegally defrauding and dipping into their systems.
My local PD / FD complain about poor pay and understaffing. The streets in the area are similar to the moon surface but some will get patched in an election year, hence the one lane traffic near my home. The infrastructure is at least 2 decades behind for the population. Grades K - 12 rank 34th overall for public school quality. I have little belief anyone with a public, political agenda can accomplish much of anything. Just my opinion but don't see my local Govt or the boys in Austin taking us to the promised land.

And that's possibly what POTUS would have been looking at doing, had the 'judges, (d) and (r) not blocked everything he wanted to do to MAGA.
America has always been great, but perfect, no. It has been politicians and THEIR agendas in the most recent decades that have put the stain on America. Things will never change until people stop voting for the incumbent (or force term limits). Like a garden you need to turn the ground over to get something to grow.

It sure does seem like after a lifetime of paying taxes, seniors, when they FINALLY pay the house off it should be theirs. Charging taxes on the land they bought with the mortgage? Basically, that is paying lot rent forever like you own the mobile home but not the ground. When the mortgage is paid, the taxes should end. I only propose this because politicians can in NO way live their lifestyle without excessive taxes, but they might throw a bone as a campaign promise they are there for seniors and pass this small help!

I’ve always felt this would fix a multitude of problems. Right out of the gate it should cut down on lobbying and votes for nothing more than $$ or promises. Might even encourage the writing of legislations that is helpful rather than to stay in office for 60 years…
Term limits, no pension, no lifetime health care, etc. Put them in government housing like the projects they provide for Chicago, Detroit, or wherever. Their pay should be the median wage of the district from which they came. They eat in the government cafeteria like a janitor would,,,

texas legalized gambling and with the lottery approved it was designed/meant for a certain percentage going towards public schools.........................it didn't last long as money went elsewhere.

It's Simple how that works !

That ( particular amount of $ ) does indeed to schools ( or whatever) .

BUT , that same amount is removed from the otherwise funding for schools ( or whatever) .

Read the fine print . That money did literally go to the schools . But nobody said that it would be * Extra * money for the schools .

easier solutions

1) fire off many employees that simply are lazy fooks milking the cash cow

2) shop around for cheaper health care

3) INCREASE the amount of employee deductions FOR that health care...they earn big money...??? well there you go...they can pay MORE into that system.

This type of 'Bait n Switch' goes on in every bureaucracy. And voters seem to never catch on till it's too late.

I could certainly live happily on these tax tables  :D:D. In all reality I think I'd like to see a simple percentage tax table where everyone paid the same percentage of their income, if in fact we're going to be taxed on income. That (income) tax basis is in and of itself unfair, or rather all the deductions, credits, and other write offs the very wealthy can afford. An even better tax system would be a VA tax system. That way everyone would pay the same amount of tax on whatever item they purchase. I'd love to see all criminal activity income recipients pay the same tax on whatever they purchase as I would have to pay on whatever I purchase because we all know they aren't paying their share of income taxes. NOW... before you jump on me, consider that with no income tax, we could all buy things we cannot afford with the "income" tax. Most of us would still not be able to buy what the millionaires and billionaires, but that's the same way it is now. There would be no limit to how much we can earn because there would be no tax on earnings. It's not quite as simple as it's written here obviously, but think of the positive impact if every millionaire, billionaire, or whatever, no matter their income paid the VA tax on the purchases they make. No more deductions for anything, no more tax credits for anything, with exception of kids and unprepared food. Just this one man's opinion!
