9 Best Concealed Carry Revolvers For Personal Defense (2021)

The S&W Bodyguard is a great choice for pocket carry, and sometimes in the heat/humidity of Missouri that is all I can manage. So it or a old Colt Cobra gets the nod. The sights are much thicker on the Colt, at least before they went to the shrouded barrel, and my old eyes appreciate that. But the Smithy offers a snag-proof draw. Always trade offs.....

For those who belt carry, try the three inch over the two in Chief's Special. The sights are MUCH better, thicker and easier to see and the ejector rod is longer. Critical when reloading. You will notice the three inch is harder to pocket carry, but if you are a belt carry guy you are missing the boat without the three inch at your side. Also, some prefer the square butt and it is practically as easy to hide as the round butt, which I can't say about the K Frame. Round butt K frames hide much easier in my experience.

Your mileage may vary, but if you are belt carrying a J Frame you are missing the boat if it is not a three inch.

Curious about that...do you pocket carry? I can fit a three inch in Duluth Firehose Cargo Pants, but that would be a stretch in jeans. But for belt carry, a two inch over the three inch?

Not sure you're talking to me but I'll answer anyway. yes I pocket carry on occasion but not a J frame, that's what the NAA .22WMR is for.

Yes, belt carry, strong side, OWB. 638 because it weighs less, no hammer to speak of so the hammer isn't chewing a hole in my spare tire, and even though both wear Pachmayr Compacs the 638 fits my hand like a glove. It points right where I want without any minor adjustments. Most of my shooting/practice is one hand (I expect my off hand being busy opening doors, pushing crap out/in the way. holding the Mrs. hand as we un-*** the A.O.) and point shooting. Any real world theoretical advantage of longer sight radius and 20-30 fps more just ain't worth the trade off.

Retired so can choose Tru-Spec originals for every day, and do. I carry a 3" SP101 in the cargo pocket. Works perfectly. I may upgrade to a 3" GP100 at some point, and it will fill that pocket, but still carry fine. A 4" SP101 would work but not a 4" GP100. Best carry ever as 100% accessible both standing and sitting, seatbelt or no seatbelt. (As in not in the truck, seatbelt 100% when in any vehicle)

Thanks bc22wm. Everybody has reasons; I always like to hear what works for others so I can evaluate it against my choices. My mind has been changed before! I certainly agree with your one hand training...two hands might be more accurate, but one handed is more likely I think in a defensive scenario.

I like the SP101 as well; the grip and the sights. For a belt carry snubby it should be on everyone's radar. It is a little heavy for pocket carry for me, but goes unnoticed on a belt.
