Final rule protects Second Amendment rights while keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals

“The Second Amendment is not a second-class right, and the federal government should not permanently deprive Americans of a constitutional right without regard to whether they pose a danger to public safety,” said Attorney General Todd Blanche. “This rule establishes a rigorous, commonsense process that protects the public while giving deserving Americans a real path to restoration.”

As one of his first actions as Attorney General, Todd Blanche today finalized a federal regulation and launched a new process allowing eligible individuals who are prohibited from possessing firearms to apply for restoration of their federal firearm rights.

No, this has been an ongoing issue for decades. Trump has nothing to do with this, nor is he mentioned anywhere in the article, which begs the question: why are you allowing Trump to live rent free in your head? There are probably thousands of ex-cons who have served their sentence and their debt to society, have been living a productive and clean life and have their other rights restored, this is the final one. Also included in those numbers would be ex-military who have bad conduct or dishonorable discharges that have nothing to do with their civilian lives who have shown they are productive, law abiding citizens. They should not be punished further for their past, if they have lived a normal, law abiding life.
 
I stand corrected, Trump is responsible for the actions of the DOJ and pushing for this, but he is also responsible for other pro 2nd Amendment legislation, such as signing the Big Beautiful Bill which included taking out the NFA tax which has led to the court decision in regards to Suppressors. He is responsible for putting Blanche in charge to push for this and other things. I highly doubt that this has anything to do with him being a "convicted felon", which is for a white collar "crime" he never committed. Being the POTUS, he can get his rights restored and forgiveness for those crimes with a Pardon. He has no need for this, he is doing it as part of his promise.
 
Having a career in DOJ as well as a couple municipal agencies I will say this on the felon getting rights restored. If they are to be trusted to walk among everyone then yes they should, states that allow felons to get their convictions expunged to own a firearm don’t have any rise in issues amount that population so the Feds should allow it as well.

Now that said I also believe they should not allow any criminal oyt of prison that has intentionally murdered or harmed anyone seriously, as well as any sex offenders. Those folks should be kept locked up for life

Well the OP intent went off the rails. Fact is this is more boilerplate double speak and frankly just shut up and fix the problems already. Too many states are boot stepping all OVER the 2nd Amendment and the governors and useless politicians that allowed it need ***** slapped back to the 1700's.
