AI - friend or foe?

It is real, and already taking jobs. Coding for computers used to be a good, safe, lacerative job. It is being taken over by AI. My Niece just got replaced by a computer. Brace yourself kids...the safe path your college counselor regrettably took a wrong turn. However, if you learned to weld instead of be a computer kid, I can personally place you in a high paying job free of charge. Because my friends are starving for real workers!

While maybe not the same, I liken ai to the darn self check out machines in to many stores and fast food joints. I refuse to use them. When asked if I want to use the faster self check out aisles I ask if I get a discount, they give me a blank stare. They don't realize their jobs will be replaced by machines sooner than later.

I do not understand why people have these issues with the self checkout. I would much rather check myself out then deal with some idiot cashier

Self checkouts only take cash or cards, I use checks….so they won’t work for me, I have no CC’s since 2015….

My gf asked me about what is AI. I didn't know very much about it myself, so we explored it together. We went to a website where one gets to pick out the body you want, male or fem. Then a few other choices. Enter a picture of your subject, erase clothes and within a minute you have a nude body picture with the same pose and head. My gf looked a little more muscular and she loved it, which surprised me. First one is free, but more will cost you. Ways you can tell it is AI is count the fingers, usually six on a hand if revealed. There may be some blemish somewhere, although it can always be removed by editing. One may also put heads on cartoon characters, etc. I guess this is how all those fake/phony pics were made right before election season...to discredit opposition. Talk about dirty politics...I can see where AI would be dangerous as there are a lot of folks who would believe such fake pictures.

We have a credit card. every year or so the bank sends us a letter telling us we need to use it or they'll cancel it.

I have one of these. They work really well.

Good thing about the trades, is AI will never be able to bend conduit or pull any wire.
Now when China sends their robots we are in trouble.
