Yes and no. While it is still reasonably fresh in their minds and still in the news, they will use him to their advantage. But once it becomes old news or longer useful to the cause, his plight will just be thrown onto the refuse pile of history.

First and foremost, military members and DOD employees may attend peaceful political meetings or rallies only as spectators and cannot appear in uniform. Military members are not permitted to make public political speeches, serve in any official capacity in partisan groups or participate in partisan political campaigns or conventions.


Per DOD Instruction 1325.06, Handling Dissident and Protest Activities Among Members of the Armed Forces, and Air Force Instruction 51-508, Political Activities, Free Speech and Freedom of Assembly of AF Personnel, service members are prohibited from participating in off-base demonstrations under any of the following circumstances: 1) they are on duty; 2) they are in a foreign country; 3) the activities constitute a breach of law and order (for example, local curfew violations, active participation in organizations that advocate or espouse supremacist, extremist or criminal gang doctrine, ideology or causes); 4) where violence is likely to result; and 5) in uniform.


Military members who fail to adhere to these requirements are subject to punishment under Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, with a maximum sentence of dishonorable discharge, two years of confinement and total forfeitures of all pay and allowances. Additionally, failure to obey local, state or federal law subjects military members to UCMJ action or civilian criminal liability with follow-on adverse administrative action by the Air Force that could result in a discharge under other than honorable conditions.

UCMJ Article 92 active-duty personnel may not:
Campaign for a partisan candidate or serve as an officer of a partisan club
Solicit votes, make monetary contributions, or engage in partisan fundraising
Speak at partisan gatherings or events
Use official equipment, uniforms, or DoD facilities for partisan political purposes
Display political signs, posters, or banners on base or in public areas, etc., etc., etc.

Civilian law: Protects public safety, prevents bad behavior, and resolves daily societal disputes. UCMJ: maintaining strict discipline, order, and mission readiness.

On the other hand, holding a sign is a no, no while being the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff it's okay to tell our enemies that he would warn them of an impending attack by the US and for troops not to follow the orders of the Commander in Chief without his approval. General Mark A. Milley anyone? Or the Col. that criticized Bidens handling of the Afghan withdrawal. ALL should be making little rock out of big rocks, no matter how much I may agree or disagree with them. Officers if you don't like what the C in C is telling you to do, resign your commission, get out and THEN open your mouth. JM-(not so)-HO!

Agree.
They signed on the dotted line and understood a UCMJ is not the civilian law system. Threw away a good career and benefits. This air force officer deserves what the court hands him
