Almost had to draw my gun "4 legged variety"

An old, retired Alabama state trooper once told me they carried small squirt bottles with a 50/50 ammonia and water mix for viscous dogs.

As a liquid, it would be less likely to irritate the trooper, like a mace or aerosol spray would so he said.

I have never attempted to test this theory.

Just saying.

Im sure there a some pit bulls that are just generally friendly dogs but my experience is that they seem to "print" on their family and tend to be protective of them. The issue is that they can be "too" aggressive and when aggressive are more dangerous than other breeds.

No doubt other breeds can be dangerous too; but they dont have the reputation for the violent maulings like pit bulls.

Having worked in the Baltimore area Im perhaps jadded by the drug/gang culture that surrounded themselves with pit bulls. Im sure some/most of that was for the "image"; but whenever I encountered someone with a pit bull wearing the drug/gang "uniform", I always included the dog as a potential target
