“Almost” no more, I own a Kuna

The wait was gnawing at me, 7-10 days was the promise. Well, day 9 it should have been in right? I call the shop, get the polite “did we call you sir?”, umm no.

I understand sir, you’re anxious, we will call. Of course I DID get the call the day before I flew out on vacation.

Upon returning home I slowed to let the

wife jump. She’s agile. Nah I stopped.

The gun shop got me in and out quick, convinced me to grab another magazine. $26. They’ll probably bounce in price, I’d guess.

At home I put the aftermarket brace, hand stop, and red dot on. The red dot was
co-witnessed easily with the various mounts that came with the dot.

I gotta say it’s an awesome looking “pistol”. It really is. It screams for a suppressor. It’ll get one.

Thanks for enjoying my journey. Lol

I opted for the “no brace” model. The wait was shorter and I wanted a more substantial butt. The FS1913 meets my needs. The finger stop, I’ve long arms, I felt I needed a reach governor. The Primary arms was a fair priced optic and has some cool features. Thanks to xdman for the suggestion.

Gonna break her down for a quick check, some lube, and off to the range in the AM.

Enjoy! She definitely wants to run quiet and it’s such a joy to shoot. Dig the set up and look forward to posts on first, second and thoughts there after.

Yay you! Looks like you're getting it fixed up real nice. I think that's a good price for that extra magazine. Let us know how it works at the range. Congratulations!

Thank you for your indulgence,

Congrats and welcome to the club. My story was pretty much the same. Bought the braceless one because easier to get. Waited, got the call. Then bought my own after market brace and forward stop.

I've put about 500 rounds through it so far. Iron sights because I can't decide which of my "spare" sights to use, at around 500 bucks I'd rather not get a new sight.

Going to the range with the soul purpose to try different sights I have in my closet. An ACOG, a Holosun green dot, a Sig Romeo red dot, and a Primary Arms SLX prism. Decisions decisions. lol

I got my suppressor already on my Sig MPX, so I might just use that one on the KUNA, but one decision at a time.

;)

Does anyone have an opinion on the HS923 suppressor for the Kuna? I like the modular options and seems to be pretty good with -34 db reduction. Price is more reasonable too, at least that's what they say, but I can't find one for sale.....yet!

I’ve been all over the web looking at suppressors, talk about a rabbit hole. The fact that they give the -db is nice. Kind of important too.

That sure looks like a stock with that butt end, my brace is less than an inch wide and is to be against my arm, not in my shoulder, but you know......

Very happy with my Rugged Obsidian 9.
600ish or so rounds, zero issues. I went tri lug adapter.
I cleaned it at 500ish rounds, just because I bought a sonic cleaner from Harbor Freight..
Meh. Ok, does take some of the work out of it, but don’t expect to drop it in, run it…and not have to still brush, pick, and scrape a little stubborn carbon.

Here’s the ammo I’ve run through mine, FYI.

124 and 147 Oak Island, reloads, and both subsonic.
150 Federal Syntech (probably the best..but also pricey) subsonic.
158 off brand reloader where I bought the pistol, subsonic, just ok.
124 blazer, definately not sub sonic
147 Federal American Eagle, NOT subsonic (so be careful of the old if it’s 147 it’s subsonic, that’s not the case)
147 Federal HST, hit and miss on the subsonic. Right at the edge for me…

There may be a few more I’m not thinking of..
My goal is to find the right blend of price, accuracy, and sound.
Next ones I think I’m gonna try is the Sellier & Belloit 150gr.

I’ve heard the Fiocchi 158 is nice, I can’t justify the price for it over the Syntech.

Good luck, great pickup… get it a can, it’s too much darn fun to shoot!

+1 for rugged products. I went with Obsidian 45 which is calls 123db at the ear (obsidian 9 120db).

I had a self induced issue with flat nose due to poor cleaning habit 😅

SB 150gr on canned kuna runs so quiet people think you chootin 22

My advice on that subject, the rabbit hole will utterly confuse people. I would suggest looking it by breaking down what you need to know

To narrow the search
Do you want one suppressor to do multiple calibers or a dedicated.
Caliber
Do you want one that is so over built that you can storm the sands of Iwo Jima, or something to just go plinking.
Weight, do you care about weight?
Budget?
Do you want modularity
Do you want Gucci
How do you want it to attach direct thread or qd

So basically lets say your biggest thing is weight: Now stainless Steel suppressors are some of the cheapest, but also the heaviest. So instead you may want to look at Aluminum or Titanium. But Aluminum is cheaper than titanium, but neither are belt fed full auto rated. But if cost is your biggest factor no point looking at something like Surefire, Huxwrx, B&T (Gucci), something like a Witt Machine for 200.00 might be better and will do a damn good job. So notice how I have not mentioned one thing about specs of decibels, because the quietest suppressor made may not fit what you really need or want. The best bet is to find a compromise that works for you. And remember for your Kuna super sonic ammo will always be louder than subsonic.

Definitely a rabbit hole with suppressors.

No Kuna - but I went with a Dead Air Wolfman on my AP5s and a UDP-9. (tri-lug mount for all 3)
I also have a Rugged Obsidian 9 I have ran of those as well (tri lug for the PCCs; and piston for the handguns)

Both are great.
Both can be configured in 2 different lengths.

The Wolfman has a greater diameter. While the Obsidian 9 has a smaller diameter, it may be a better option for switching between PCCs and handguns.
