And the truly Sad thing. When GCA ‘68 was passed, if it had placed a 10 round limit on all new mags literally no one would have cared. Basically the only “hi cap” stuff available to civilians was in a Browning HiPower (13) or an M1 carbine (15). Now, when 15-20 rounders are common, and 33’s + readily available certain states seek to limit size knowing full well only those who obey the law will comply. Somehow our “leaders” haven’t figured out that the reason people are lawbreakers is because they break the law🙄. If the lawbreakers actually “Followed” the law (or if the “justice” system actually dispensed Justice) ALL the other arguments become mute. But actually holding people accountable for their actions might, you know, somehow offend people. Far easier to go after those who obey they law.

Possession of a lethal weapon during commission of a felony should be automatic capital punishment. No exceptions. And I said and meant possession. Doesn't have to even be used, just in the convicted person's possession at the time. Limit of 2 appeals. Limit of 24 months per appeal. No exceptions. Public hanging at the county courthouse of the county where the crime was committed. No exceptions.

Absofreakinglootly! And you’re being too generous on the appeals.

Project Exile was a groundbreaking, highly coordinated federal gun violence reduction program launched in Richmond, Virginia, in February 1997. Developed in response to Richmond's soaring homicide rates during the mid-1990s crack cocaine epidemic, the program's primary strategy was to shift the prosecution of illegal firearm possession from state courts to federal courts. This shift ensured that convicted felons caught with guns faced strict, mandatory minimum five-year sentences in federal prisons, often located far out of state—effectively "exiling" the offenders from their local communities.

I agree with the premise, to a point. If such a concept were to become law, I could see the liberal DAs in blue states trying to convict someone of a felony in a self defense scenario just to see the original victim executed.

True, a person who commits a felony with a firearm should be heavily punished. True, the appeals process in capital cases are beyond absurd (think justice delayed is justice denied). It amazes me how readily courts can clear room on their docket when Johnny B. Scumbag is facing imminent execution for the murder he was convicted of 20 years ago.

I agree, use of a gun while committing a felony should be heavily punished. Not confident that a mandatory death sentence would be used to further justice as one would hope.
