And the hits just keep on coming for Ford.

WOW wiper motors!!

Sure glad Ford engines aren't blowing up like GM/Chevy ones....

The Explosions just keep on coming for GM/Chevy.

General Motors is recalling nearly 600,000+ trucks and SUVs—including 2021–2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Suburban models—due to defective 6.2-liter V8 engines. Manufacturing defects in connecting rods or crankshafts can lead to sudden, catastrophic engine failure and power loss.

This video explains the details of the recall and what to expect:

Key Details on the 6.2L L87 Engine Recall:
  • Affected Vehicles: 2021–2024 Chevy Silverado 1500, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV.
  • The Problem:Defective engine components (connecting rods/crankshaft) may cause loud knocking noises, reduced performance, or total engine failure, increasing crash risk

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine; some vehicles will require full engine replacement, while others will receive a higher viscosity oil (0W40) and a "new" filler cap to mitigate issues.

Investigation: The NHTSA is currently investigating 6.2L L87 engine failures because some vehicles continued to have issues even after the recall fix, with reports indicating potential, recurring failures.
    • Actions: Owners should use the NHTSA VIN lookup tool to check for recalls and contact their local dealer for inspection.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500. 3 Recalls. 2 for the crappy Takata Airbags and one for the differential nut not having the proper thread sealant patch on it. 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander GT. 2 Recalls. One for the rear hatch electronics/struts and one for the rear passenger seatbelt latch having the possibility of not being in the right position when the seats are returned to their upright position after being folded down for flat storage. Dodge 201,000 miles. Outlander 130,000 miles. Both still going with very few issues. While some manufacturers have been having more issues than others for the last 20 years, almost all of them have their quality, safety and reliability tanking. Doesn't matter if it is American, Japanese, Korean, German, European, Bavarian, etc. Their vehicles have become even more problematic and prone to issues with more and more "technology" they cram into the damned things. Now, the PCM and BCM control EVERYTHING, even your flippin' lights. And don't get me started on the tire manufacturing crooks.

I've owned many makes of vehicles over the years. Unless a recall is considered a "do not drive" sort of thing, or life threatening, I don't sweat it. I'll have it taken care of at my convenience. And if it breaks before that, I'll play dumb and say I was never informed of the recall. I just don't trust the monkeys that work at dealerships.

recalls.......not much new here that hasn't been done countless times over the decades since Ford introduced the horse buggy.

even my beloved Toyota brand, has had its share of recalls as well.

i cannot think of a brand that has ever been "recall free".
FORD is 5x industry avg for recalls. avg is 20-25. Ford is well over 125 recalls in the last 14 months.

i don't think it surprises me that when the family runs out of heirs to take over, and the stock holders demand thier investments returns, that the board members "elect" tomfoolery to take the helm.

one case in point, the chrysler corporation long owned now by a foreign company

money, money, money...make as much as we can and disregard quality.

i'd suspect each and every individual that birthed those companies is rolling over in thier respective graves.

Modern cars are too complicated. Small block Ford or Chevy, manual transmission. I have not received any recalls on my Chevy or Ford.

Just saying.

For those that like a lot of tech in their rigs, things, no matter the brand, can go down.

📹 Ford is recalling just under 890,000 vehicles, including the Escape and Explorer, as well as the Lincoln Corsair and Aviator, for infotainment systems that may display inverted images; it's also recalling about 850,000 Edge and Bronco SUVs for overheating infotainment system control modules. Both issues have the side effect of impeding proper rear-view camera functionality, which is the specific concern listed in their NHTSA recall reports. Last fall, Ford recalled about 1.4 million vehicles for faulty backup cameras, but that pertained to the camera hardware itself, prompting replacements; by contrast, the automaker intends to remedy these newer recalls with an over-the-air software update.

A former neighbor who bought a new Chevy PU (with 15 computers in it) had one go bade & it took a couple months to get it fixed.

Some stuff can't be fixed locally so the insurance companies total the rig, and then the part-out the vehicle.
