and there you have it, my first thread removal since i came back

that's true, driving a truck for 40+ years, i came close to death and that's a fact too.

and i do know about your operation.

but i started working like around 11 maybe 12 years of age, in a gas station, pumping gas, checking oil, cleaning the windshield.......that used to be an ordinary job in gas stations.

i cannot sit still

even though i too have had numerous operations, like a total (this far) of 4 major back operations, which the rods go from my L3 down to my S2, and screws into my pelvis/ulum area, and i'm talking like 3" screws.

i been cut open from that L3 down to my butt crack, and that ain't no joke.

like you i can barely walk, cannot stand for long periods of time, and cannot sit for long either.

when i shoot, i have to lean lightly on the shooting bench.

but i still shoot, with iron sights, and no bench rest.......

but to me, retirement still sucks.
My last words on retirement. If you choose to be miserable from/or during your retirement, then you will be. It had always been my goal to retire by 62. And I planned and worked for it that way. As things happened, I decided the best bet for me was to retire while I could at 59. Holding out until 62 would have cost me more in the long run. And it turned into a good bet. I'm better set taking retirement now than at 62. And Social Security has no impact in my plans. I planned for that not being around for me when I was of age. I saw my father struggle to scrimp and save for his retirement (which he never received) and die the day after his 63rd birthday. He was a farmer and never was able to enjoy any of retirement. I can and am very much enjoying it.

Oh my poor eyes! They are burning!
i had morphine with ALL those surgeries...in fact, first one was in spring of 2000, due to a trucking injury

the next 3 were done due to a massive injury on the job

starting 2014, then 2015, then 2016.......nearly 1 year apart from one another, and i was on workman's comp for just over 7 years..

talk about the BS from the insurance company..they got "fined" many times for delaying my checks, or approval of the much needed operatixrays, etc..etc...

but in the end...???

a nice BIG payout.

sorry about your dad...i have known many that never made it to retirement...at my age, that's normal to witness.

but you need to understand too.....i am WAY OLDER than you

when you worked all your life as a child (illegally) but at least a born American, you get into that work ethic, as you followed your family way of working.

make sense..??

so for me to sit and do nothing, and yes, i too had horrible bosses, and thier flunkies, i carried on, knowing i was better than them in every way.

most times, those bosses and flunkies got fired.

other times, they got promotions

did i care...??

nope...cuz i can shave and look in the mirror proud that i survived them and am still better then they will ever be.

retirement sucks, when you have worked all your life, then what, just sit around, watch tv, go fishing, hunting..whatever..??

i still have my home life. my hobbies, and my family

i lose out on nothing..........

unless i have ice cream but no devil dog at the same time........oh and 1 more VERY important thing...

as a retiree, and i find side jobs or gigs..

if a boss ticks me off...??

i can tell him (or her) to go have sex with themselves, and walk out......

what are they gonna do to me...fire me, and i go on unemployment..??

sheesh..i still get my monthly checks,,, they still GOTTA WORK......lol...lol...lol

I'm sorry that you have a sad retirement. No offense, but I will try my hardest to never let what your retirement has become to fall upon me. And I don't think that will happen.

what don't you get..??

i am NOT sad.....i just don't like it.

don't try to be like someone "on the left" to make things to fit your agenda.....

you will not win.

I had to retire when I was 52. My pension plan was changing so if I didn't retire then I would have take a 30% reduction in my benefits. I still had 31 years in and only needed 30. Was I sorry, no. I had 10 good years before my health issue happened, but I’m ok now….🤞🤞
