Another Ronin?

Well…I went to my lgs yesterday and there it was. A 5” 45 to match my 10mm, I asked the clerk what the story was on this used Ronin and was was it so “cheap”?
He advised me that a guy had traded it in and that it hadn’t been shot much, the guy had told him it was too hard to clean
Needless to say the shop owner got into it good and priced it fairly.

I have a 4" Ronin 9mm, and I have no problems cleaning it, maybe 45s are harder... , lol. Welcome to the forum from chilly west central Minnesota .

The key to cleaning a 1911 is to start by practicing crawling around the room looking for the recoil spring plug. Once you have that down the rest is easy. But beware the idiot scratch

Welcome from north central Illinois (due east of SA mother ship via 80 or Route 6).

There’s one firearm in my collection I haven’t mastered on cleaning yet. That’s my RIA 1911A1 in 10MM. That’s the only one that is really tricky to master since I need a paper clip to keep the slide open (why they did that is beyond me). Otherwise I start field stripping everything I adopt to the point I can do it in my sleep.

I honestly hope you enjoy your adopted member.

When I attended the SA 1911 armorer course they gave us a manual and a paper clip. It's really not difficult if you straighten the paper clip out and put the skinny end of the wire through the hole first

FWIW, I've been using the "Ed Brown" method of disassembly where you remove the whole slide without taking apart the recoil spring plug or muzzle collar. Just grab the whole recoil spring assembly as you take off the slide.

You can reassemble the same way. The procedure is a bit fiddly until you get it down but it saves a few steps and is quicker. You might like it.
