Owned several over the years, very good gun, no issues.
Never owned the GP 100 but did own 2 Security-Sixs . First was blued and second was stainless. They were built like tanks.

They still are.
The GP100 is just heavier, weight-wise; mainly due to having a cast frame vs the S&W’s forged.
It’s not heavier built; a load that will damage a 686 will do the same damage to the GP100.
Like I said, I own both, and I owned the GP100 first.

I love my GP100, but it is a bit different that others. Mine has a full IBOK trigger job and shims for the hammer and trigger. The single action is just a hair over 2 pounds, and silky smooth.
I have mounted a scope on mine for deer and sometimes hogs. I look forward to this piece being handed down in the family for generations.

I like it better than my Security Six. My HKS speedloader bumps the grip, and Speedbeez are hard to find holsters that snap over the top. The L7 speedloader from 5 Star Firearms fits perfect.
