Anyone else into PCC’s?

You guys (any gals on here?) are a bunch of animals! Some of ya have more than one! LOL. Where I'm from, we don't ever ask how much money someone has nor how many guns they own. It ain't polite to do so. But if you choose to share that info voluntarily, that's OK. Just don't cross the line into braggin' territory.

I think for most it's more genuine excitement to share it with folks of similar interest. I'm always intrigued by what people buy, and then how they modify/add to it to make it their own.

I appreciate the pics and descriptions because I've never had an original creative thought in my life. I've stolen all my "good ideas" from others.

I think you are correct. For the last several months, every time I go to the outdoor range where I shoot, I hear the "brrrrt" sound of someone shooting their FRT equipped AR in "giggle" mode. (It might not be technically accurate, but I include the Super Safety in the same category as an FRT) When I mentioned it to one of the long-time range employees, he responded that yes, indeed, that's what I was hearing, and he added, "Those things are getting to be really good."
 
FRT, Super Safety, it's all the same in principle, just differ in how they get it there. There are a ton of them out there. Some work the same as others, some work slightly differently, alot of them require a "super safety" cut in the trigger shoe, etc. There are drop in cassette versions as well. Like anything else, you get what you pay for. Some are definitely better than others.

I'm not trying to stir controversy, but I'll state that I favor AR/M16/M4 fire control systems that are NOT cartridge based as are the FRTs that I've seen. The Super Safety isn't a "drop in cartridge" part, so I think that I would favor it over the FRTs.

Here's my reasoning: The AR15/M16/M4 fire control system is PURPOSELY designed to allow the trigger pin and hammer pin to rotate within the receiver holes. The pins are held in place by the tension of the hammer spring and trigger spring. Cartridge based fire control groups eliminate the spring tension on those pins, almost mandating some sort of anti-rotational trigger pin/hammer pin setup. Problems of various kinds almost inevitably ensue. There is an engineering corollary to Murphy's Law which dictates that every change to a complete, tested and robust design will require at least two to three additional compensating changes or work-arounds.

All that said, you can take what I said above with a grain of salt because I have yet to get any hands-on experience with either an FRT or a Super Safety. I HAVE, however, had experiences with both cartridge type and non-cartridge type aftermarket fire controls in ARs, so I'm not just blowing smoke in that regard.

Just curious: How does an FRT actually accelerate the cycle rate in an AP5 over that of an MP5? Does the bolt actually run FASTER in an AP5 and the FRT simply "unleashes" it to do so continually?

I have NO experience with either an mp5 nor its semi-auto only counterpart (SP5? or AP5?) either in firing them nor in the "how they work" arena.
 
Hi,

I've just got the 9mm S&W M&P FPC. I put some Magpul MBUS sights on it. I have a spare TruGlo Ignite optic to try but that seems it may be a bit large for this platform.

It's a lot of fun at the range and doesn't take up much room in the truck. ;)

This is exactly it. I always learn something from seeing how others have their guns configured. Whether it be grip choice, trigger changes etc. I like the more rounded vertical grips I've seen pictured here several times and will probably replace my oval shaped grip with one I saw here.

PCCs should be more popular anyways. They're just so versatile.
