"Battle blade"

So reading the battle belt thread here got me thinking what equipment I might put on such a tool. Being a huge knife guy, one thing they neglected which I would consider essential is a what I termed "battle blade" just to stay in thier vernacular.

So what would I consider for such a tool? A fixed blade knife with a guard, and a blade of between 5 and 7 inches. Something durable which could be used for a myriad of tasks, including, CQB.

Here might be two right off the top of my head. One is a Kabar Marine Corps FUK (fighting utility knife) the second a vintage Gladstone Marbles Bison.

Excellent knives, he made the only hollow handle knife truly worth using.

And a numbered Al Mar Warrior to go along with it: 128/200. When I purchased the knife from a fellow enthusiast (time flies, it's getting to be close to 20 years ago! :oops: ), he sent me his copy of the book, too. It also came with a magnificent leather sheath.

The Warrior is not on my training belt, though - the truth of the matter is that belt's use is to facilitate my learning in training classes. Instead of a blade, there's a utility pocket in its place (often filled with a note pad and pen). The other place on my belt where the blade could have gone is occupied by a MSM Bottle Corset (https://milspecmonkey.com/store/pouches-panels/340-msm-bottle-corset.html).

A good multi-tool -for me, for my use of the belt- has often come in handy and rides on the belt.

On my HD setup rides an old Emerson PUK (https://www.breachbangclear.com/police-utility-knife-emerson-puk/) - https://www.thearmorylife.com/forum/threads/how-to-set-up-your-battle-belt.9867/#post-129299 . It's really less for "fighting" than it is for utility, and over the years before coming to armed self-defense, I'd become as enamored with it as a similarly-aged Chris Reeves Aviator which I'd also used for camping and other similarly mundane things. The ergonomics of the PUK and fact that it is much more easily replaceable (the Aviator is a TAD edition, in OD Kalgard, so I'm kinda fond of it :p ) makes it a no-brainer for this purpose.
 
Yes they're similar with the SRK almost an inch longer. The S1 with a little better steel. The SRK cheaper.

Both would serve the same role as a Survival knife.

I like/have the SRK-C (Compact) which has the same blade length as the S1 (on my new "Battle Belt").
 
Does a hand forged, Damascus steel tomahawk count? It also has a 4 sided spike on one end that can punch 3/8" holes in steel oil drums. The ax head is heavy with a recurved hook at the bottom of the edge for pulling back. I bet I could chop a new door in a Hummer with that rascal. A blacksmith in New Mexico used to make and sell the heads on ebay. No two the same.
With the 'hawk in one hand and a good knife in the other, you're ready for anything but a gunfight.

Excellant. I had the AL Mar SERE, the original one, that "disappeared" along with a number of others during a move. Stopped collecting around that time. Now just have blade I actually will use.

I would think it counts. Whatever works for you, and that should certainly work. I have and use belt area, most of mine are primitive colonial patterns I made myself.
