Best friend from Air Force Passed Away

I first met Bill in 1989 in Utah. We instantly became friends and instigators. The he got orders to Japan and a few months later I got orders also to Japan. We were assigned to the same Flight on the same shift. He was the best man at my wedding in 1990. After Japan he retired and his wife who was in went to Mississippi. I left Japan and came to New Mexico. Through all the years we stayed in touch and always talked on the phone His son joined the Air Force and got stationed here in New Mexico and I made our home his home away from home. He spent holidays here with us if he didn't go on leave. Just a nice family and wonderful friends. The last few months I sensed something was wrong with him but he said he was alright. I found out he was having heart issues but was stubborn and didn't want to see doctors. Mind you his wife is a nurse! With his passing I have lost a best friend and brother. Most of these guys I knew have all gone away. I just don't understand why they don't take care of themselves. As I think of our friendship over the last 30 years I was blessed to have him as my friend. He will be missed by me. My list is extremely short now. Time can be mean. Maybe we meet again in that big Air Force base in the sky. I'll see you on the flightline!
