Greetings and Salutations!
I had a great weekend in Las Vegas! We played our gig at Gilley's on Friday and Saturday night to capacity crowds. Saturday morning I went out to the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club to shoot a bunch of 10-10-10 drills. I don't even remember how many I shot but I took a bunch of pictures and video so that I can get heckled by the class. I had a 25 yard bay all to myself. This is good and this is bad. It's good because you can take your time but there is no peer pressure to push your performance. I seemed to take my time doing the slide lock reloads and tactical reloads. I should have gotten my first shot off sooner, especially after I had warmed up after a few drills. They were all right around two seconds, except for when I fumbled my garment and took longer. Oops. (I also may have been generous when scoring my targets. Forgive me.)
Here, we'll start right off with my first four 10-10-10 drills. Be be gentle with me. I'm no Larry Vickers.
The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club is way out in the boonies past Boulder City, a suburb of Las Vegas.
My friend Tony is a member but he couldn't make it today. So I had to pay a handsome sum of $30 for a private bay and a target stand. (LOL) I could've gotten a steel target for the same price but I wanted to shoot paper today.
The bays are well appointed here with a picnic table and a shooting table under a cover.
I had also brought a couple of target stands and set them up at the back of the bay. I had thought about running some scoot-and-shoot drills but concentrated mainly on 10-10-10 drills.
I brought a bunch of different ammo. I shot a box of Blazer Brass, a box of PMC, and a box of Remington. That box of Blazer Aluminum was about half aluminum and half Winchester steel case. I did not shoot any WWB today.
I did not take pictures of all my B-8 targets but here's a good sampling in pretty much the order they were shot. I noticed that toward the end of my session my performance started to degrade so I called it quits. I had gotten only about five hours sleep the night before. If I was training for competition it would be different. I'd rather be well-rested. But training for self-defense I think I need to defend myself in all of my physical situations and limitations.
The target below looks a little different because I did not take this picture while I was in the bay. I took it later when I returned the target stand. I think I have video of this string though. I'll post it later after I get it edited and uploaded. I was using an older Android phone as a second camera and it was misbehaving. A lot of the video was not usable. Drat.
I'll be back in the next post to finish up this range report. Thanks for letting me share my fun.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
