Bring Back Mental Institutions

How is the "the right continually cutting budgets for mental healthcare" when the left have been running thing$ for decades on immigrant health instead of Americans ?
That is the part the left always conveniently leaves out. Since 1992, 20 yrs of left leaders, 12 years and 7 months of Republican leadership (with 4 years and 7 months (so far) of positive movement forward almost completely blocked by an abundance of Trump Derangement Syndrome on the left AND right - as well as activist judges). So in reality, 20 years of the left to 8 years of the right being in a position to “fix” things.

But of course it’s the always the right’s job to clean up after the left…as it always has been and always will be, as long as the US populace can’t figure out the left does nothing for them but raise taxes to fund their pet projects (usually abroad) and limit freedoms.

I, personally, would find it odd if there are actual “hard core” criminals taking up non-prison institutional mental health bed space in Texas. If they are, it’s likely because activist judges in Texas’ blue metropolitan areas put them there to keep them out of actual prison. It’s not a secret the left thinks there should be as little consequence as possible for committing any level of crime - and it’s almost never the responsibility of the perpetrators of said crime.

Texas would also have a lot more funds available for lots of things have we not been subjected to wide open borders under the last administration for 4 straight years (and pretty much being ground zero for all illegal immigration always until Trump recently corrected the problem). Well, 3.5 years under Biden’t admin, since they thought finally addressing immigration those last six months would put Harris in the White House. Though she was the “border Czar” and had many years to fix what took Trump a few months.

There’d be even less monies to help the poor and indigent in Texas had Governor Abbott not figured out a way to make the left share in the massive immigration financial pain the Biden administration was intentionally causing.

I think the big things most folks miss is the mental health crises currently occurring can probably be traced back to the erosion of morals and values that began in the 1960s…driven by the liberals, among other “fringe” groups, some of which now have politicians in actual office, with one likely to become the Mayor of NYC.

And don’t forget that clown Daskalakis. Funny thing is, after working at a psych hospital for a year, i noticed the people inside were not that much different than the people outside. And the staff has pretty much embraced today’s culture. Many are more fud than the patients IMO.

I researched mass killers/mass shooters in great detail going back to the 1800's, preparing for a course I taught on preventing and mitigating active shootings. Although there is no clear profile of these killers, there are a few characteristics that often show up.

The shooter usually does not expect to survive the event and expect to kill themselves or to be killed by police. What they fear is being interfered with before they are done. I believe it is why they choose soft targets like unsecured schools.

They usually believe they are victims and have no control over life events. They often believe they have been bullied. The shooting gives the illusion of power.

They study previous active shooters and often idolize previous shooters. Intense media coverage simply provides material for the next shooter to study. Body count "score" is important.

There were usually signs that the shooter was considering a mass killing event. Sudden intense interest in firearms and past mass killings, hateful or bizarre speech and writings, withdrawl and loner status, etc. People around them see the signs but did not know what they are seeing or did nothing with their observations. In some cases they told people what they were going to do.

Mental illness is usually a factor, but for various reasons. Whitman, The shooter at the Texas Tower had a brain tumor. He had told a mental health professional what he intended to do. The shooter at the San Ysidro MacDonalds was a technical welder with high concentrations of exotic metals in his brain. He tried contacting a mental health crisis line the day before but never got a return call. The shooter at Sandy Hook was clearly mentally ill but his mother bought him a gun. She was the first one he killed that day. The shooter at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas had a history of disturbed behavior. He even committed felony acts of domestic violence but due to liberal policies involving youthful offenders was not arrested and charged. With the shooter at Uvalde, a person close to him reported him as "the next mass shooter" but the information was not acted upon.

The warning signs were often present. It is in all our interest to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill, but any discussion of how to do that is sure to raise the ire of our side of gun rights. The art is in how you due that without violating due process.

My wife works in this industry and there are plenty of mental institutions, but their effectiveness has been eroded down to the bare minimum by the right continually cutting budgets for mental healthcare. I’m sure that’s not a popular sentiment but it’s truth. Even recently with all the problems we’ve had with shootings in Texas, Governor Abbott and his administration have decimated the mental healthcare system and have started filling mental institutions with hard core criminals, denying services to people with genuine mental
health issues. BTW, your average doctor and/or psychiatrist is barely adequately trained for evaluating mental issues and 99.9% of the time will prescribe meds rather than getting to the root cause of the problem.
Let’s be fair. It’s been every president since Reagan. EVERY SINGLE PRESIDENT.
