Bring Back Mental Institutions

When I was a young lad, I don't remember which governor it was, closed almost all of the giggle factories in Los Angeles and dumped the residents that didn't have any insurance or family ties into skid row. I remember sitting in the car my pop was driving and we were sitting at a stoplight. That was the first time I ever saw mentally ill people. It literally haunted me for a long time. Being young, I simply couldn't understand the economics of the situation and I felt so sorry for the people. Nowadays, I find it difficult to muster much sympathy due to the drugs and self inflicted illness (alphabet mafia).

Although I can’t speak for everyone on this forum I feel confident i can say that we ALL know and understand that there is no amount of gun control that could have prevented this latest tragedy, he had no criminal record whatsoever that would have stopped him from buying firearms.
Besides being confused about his gender he held in his heart an unbelievable amount of hatred for everyone especially children. The only group of people he held in high regard was those that killed children in past school shootings.
He was the epitome of evil. If you believe in the devil it was him.

My wife works in this industry and there are plenty of mental institutions, but their effectiveness has been eroded down to the bare minimum by the right continually cutting budgets for mental healthcare. I’m sure that’s not a popular sentiment but it’s truth. Even recently with all the problems we’ve had with shootings in Texas, Governor Abbott and his administration have decimated the mental healthcare system and have started filling mental institutions with hard core criminals, denying services to people with genuine mental
health issues. BTW, your average doctor and/or psychiatrist is barely adequately trained for evaluating mental issues and 99.9% of the time will prescribe meds rather than getting to the root cause of the problem.
Not to worry. Texas schools are social services centers which are expected to sub for parents and counseling centers. The left, of course, loves this.

That is the part the left always conveniently leaves out. Since 1992, 20 yrs of left leaders, 12 years and 7 months of Republican leadership (with 4 years and 7 months (so far) of positive movement forward almost completely blocked by an abundance of Trump Derangement Syndrome on the left AND right - as well as activist judges). So in reality, 20 years of the left to 8 years of the right being in a position to “fix” things.

But of course it’s the always the right’s job to clean up after the left…as it always has been and always will be, as long as the US populace can’t figure out the left does nothing for them but raise taxes to fund their pet projects (usually abroad) and limit freedoms.

I, personally, would find it odd if there are actual “hard core” criminals taking up non-prison institutional mental health bed space in Texas. If they are, it’s likely because activist judges in Texas’ blue metropolitan areas put them there to keep them out of actual prison. It’s not a secret the left thinks there should be as little consequence as possible for committing any level of crime - and it’s almost never the responsibility of the perpetrators of said crime.

Texas would also have a lot more funds available for lots of things have we not been subjected to wide open borders under the last administration for 4 straight years (and pretty much being ground zero for all illegal immigration always until Trump recently corrected the problem). Well, 3.5 years under Biden’t admin, since they thought finally addressing immigration those last six months would put Harris in the White House. Though she was the “border Czar” and had many years to fix what took Trump a few months.

There’d be even less monies to help the poor and indigent in Texas had Governor Abbott not figured out a way to make the left share in the massive immigration financial pain the Biden administration was intentionally causing.

I think the big things most folks miss is the mental health crises currently occurring can probably be traced back to the erosion of morals and values that began in the 1960s…driven by the liberals, among other “fringe” groups, some of which now have politicians in actual office, with one likely to become the Mayor of NYC.
The sad part is if you burn a "Pride" flag, you'll be locked up for 10 years for committing an act of "hate speech". And those blue state judges will see to it without flinching. If you shoot an attacker in self defense, you'd better pray that person isn't part of the Alphabet Mafia because if (s)he is, you'll get the needle without question. If I were to burn an American Flag (I would NEVER do so), the single most symbol of our great Republic, I'd be applauded as a hero! Why isn't burning an American Flag "hate speech?" As me ole gran pappy used to say....... (This world is going to hell in a handbasket!"

The proper way to dispose of a worn-out U.S. flag is to burn it in a dignified ceremony, ideally after folding it properly and saluting it.

Sooo, how would you dispose of your worn out flag?
😉
Yeah..... I meant burning an American flag on the ground in the middle of the street by some blue haired, nose ring wearing idiot that is protesting the latest TDS issue. Are you really so stupid you didn't realize that or are you just trying to poke the bear?

Stupid! Really?!
Dude gfys, how's that for poking the bear?
Which in my first post I was not.
Simply put you made a STATEMENT that you would NEVER burn a flag, in which I only pointed out the proper way to decommission a flag is to burn it.

It's the mission of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to collect worn flags and hold dignified ceremonies for disposal. Give your old flags to the Legion near you! Many will replace them!

One thing I hate is seeing athletes use the flag like a cape over their stinking sweaty body like it's being patriotic, they need a swift kick in the ***!

The correct way to dispose of an American flag is to first cut it up. Separate the blue star field from the stripes and then separate the stripes from each other. If you desire. you can further cut the stripes into smaller pieces. Gently and with dignity, feed the pieces into the fire.
My old Boy Scout Troop did this several times. One was a 30'X50' flag that had flown over a large office building until it was just too worn to use anymore. We were careful to never let it touch the ground while we cut it. It took the whole troop to hold it up.

The local VFW where I am does that. They'll provide a new flag to you when you give your old flag to them for proper retirement. I always save my bottles and cans for their recycling drives and help haul their donated stuff to the recycle center. There are some guys there older than dirt that have some of the most interesting and harrowing tales of their service. Unfortunately a lot of history dies whenever one of the old timers passes.
