Cane For Personal Protection

Actually, a Cane Corso is the next dog we plan on getting. But that is still at least another year from now. There is a Cane Corso breeder about 15 miles from my place. Puppies start out at about $3300.
Do they come with a saddle and brittle?

You won't get that pointy handle in a courtroom, but I prefer a walking cane on hikes, no handle, just a staff, it fits better with my "training", for self defense nothing beats a firearm, few things beat having a good knife, a solid cane is one of them.

You would have to look on their website to see what puppies are available now. Or what upcoming litters they are planning. Here is their website... https://www.onetimecanecorso.com/

Not so sure about the handle and a courtroom. Just like clockwork, I'm about due for jury duty sometime soon. My cane is considered an ADA assistance device. If they don't let me report with my cane, then they can provide me with a wheelchair and a deputy to push it for me. Or excuse me from jury duty! lol

I never liked knife fights and the scars it left me with, arms neck chest hands and legs.

ASI have gotten older I have had many joint issues with my spine and hands, I have had to start using a cane a few years ago. The one I had was a drugstore aluminum can that is adjustable. I too have come to the conclusion a cane will be part of my life, especially when my sciatic starts kicking in.
I started looking at self defense canes, not trick canes with knives or guns in them, true self defense wood canes. When I was younger into martial arts I use to practice with cane defense.
I came on to Cane Masters to choose one of their hickory wood canes. I passed on their tricked out canes in favor of a more standard looking cane for legal reasons.
I first bought a dojo can then the Every Day cane. Due to worsening osteoarthritis in my hands this year I lost quite a bit of grip strength in my right hand so I strategically added some para cord wrap.
One thing about a cane is it is always in your hand ready to go, and with the configuration of my canes I can take them anywhere other items are prohibited. The dojo training cane is 7/8” hickory and kind of lightweight, the EveryDay cane is 1” hickory and very substantial. For self defense I stick with the most basic techniques. Carrying the cane and knowing how to use it is a confidence builder as I get older.

I get a lot of compliments on my cane. Just about any time I'm at doctor's appointment and sitting in a waiting room, other cane users will ask me about it.

After using a cane for a bit now I have noticed something that I guess hurts my pride, between my grey hair and cane, people in public treat and seem to look at me quite different, like I am an old cripple 😏.
I thought it may just be me until I find young women often holding doors open for me 😳.

Well buckle up because the road gets rougher as time marches on, guaranteed.

I have gone through several canes, the should have a discount for return buyers because I wear them out.😏
I've had this one (used daily) for over 15 years and only had to replace the rubber tips. Obviously I have the cane not the staff.

I can't find a picture of a cane I noticed once.

The end that normally goes to the floor in normal use was also a hand grip for swinging the normal handle of the cane. You just swap ends and swing it, instead of leaning on it.

Get used to it. You know when you're finished when the little cuties start calling you sir. 20 years ago I was in a health food store and picked a bottle of vitamins off the shelf and asked a sweet young thing that worked there if this was the one I had seen advertised on TV. She came over and smiled ever so sweet, took the bottle from my hand and whispered to me, "It's okay, my grand dad forgets his glasses too." Then proceeded to read the label to me. Yep, get used to it, you have arrived.

I inherited a couple hickories from pops, along with a sword cane. Also, a pool stick from Taiwan when I was there. A couple of guys at the VA hospital made me two walking sticks they made. One with an eagle's head, the other a cobra.
The biggest deterrent though is the dog I saved from the county shelter. He doesn't put up with no bull, and no more people hopping the fence anymore. Plus, he gets me a mile everyday exercise.
