Cane For Personal Protection

I've actually come to like the light color. It is the Tung Oil choice. I do wish I had added the grips to horn of the cane. When my hand is sweaty, the horn gets a little slippery. I'm thinking of maybe wrapping the horn with grip tape so it doesn't get slippery. I constantly get compliments about my cane.
I have a new cane coming tomorrow in a lighter color myself. After seeing yours I wanted one with more self defense features and a tad less weight than my walking cane. The cuts on the cane should put me in a sweet spot in weight where I will have both power (weight) and speed plus still staying with hickory.
After my last doctors appointment going over xrays, I see a cane will be part of my life from here forward, so buying another was easy.

You want a Bariatric Cane ... That's what I keep in my truck, I'm disabled and need it most days. Bought mine at Walgreens Drug Store when I was looking to replace my old one that got bent.
Bariatric Canes are made for morbidly obese people ( up to #600 ) and are much more study than most.

I don't want to say that you shouldn't carry a cane but I'd be very wary of how to deploy it, especially in enclosed spaces like a vehicle or hallway and honestly I'd be afraid of having the cane stripped from me and being beaten with it myself. I think pepper spray is better than a cane in 99.9% of scenarios and for 99.9% of people. To generate any kind of damage with a cane you need to swing it hard and that involves having a proper foundation and form to swing it. It's all so situational and depends greatly on your physical ability which if you're carrying a cane for a disability reason, I'd also be skeptical of someone being able to generate the power in any meaningful way.

It just all sounds pretty wishful thinking for me than any real self defense piece.

You must not have read any of my posts on this. My cane is for mobility use first. I am right handed and shoot with my right hand. I am more incapacitated on my left side, so that means a cane is carried on my right side (gun side). I wouldn't waste time with pepper spray when I pocket carry a S&W J-Frame. The cane (carried in my right hand), would hopefully buy me enough time to transition hands so I could draw my pistol. Most people that carry or use canes have no choice in the matter, they physically need them. I don't know anyone who carries a cane just for the sake of carrying it without a true need for it. I don't really have any choice in the matter, as I am disabled and rely on my cane for mobility issues.

Just the statement “to generate any kind of damage with a cane you need to swing it hard” shows how little you know about using a cane for self defense, just saying 😉.
