Carrying while fat (how do you do this comfortably?!)

I have an Alein Gear seat holster set up in my truck. I have shells for my SA XDs .45, my Hellcat RDP, my HK VP9SK, and now set up for my current EDC, a J-Frame S&W .357. I carry my J-frame in a sticky holster in my shorts pocket, and once inside my truck, pull my sticky holster from my pocket and put the pistol in the seat holster. Reverse procedure for when I get to my destination. The seat holster can be used as a paddle holster also, but I just leave it in place, as I carry with a sticky holster in my pocket. The seat holster has adjustable retention, so the pistol is not going to fly out in an accident. I can do the holster transfer inside my truck, without anyone seeing what I am doing. The one thing I don't know is if Alein Gear still sells the seat holsters anymore. This older picture is with my Hellcat.View attachment 98055
Ok, good stuff. Was not aware of this set-up, appears to fit between your legs. Good idea. Thanks for the info!

A friend of mine is on one of those drugs. He has lost about 75 lbs. But his BMI (Body Mass Index) showed that he was considered obese. While he is not a diabetic, his doctor felt his weight might be considered life threating. You and your doctor should discuss it about your case. If you are a small guy, 30 lbs. over might consider you obese. If you are a big, tall guy, 30 lbs. just might mean you are a little chubby. Find out what your ideal weight should be for your age and height and figure out what your BMI is.
I'm 5'11" 250lbs. (obese) :>(

To hell with the style of holsters...the bigger question is how did you go about losing the weight? I could stand to drop 30lbs.

(Having recently lost 30 some Lb )

It's simple ( which isn't necessarily same as easy ) .

Reduce , as in close to eliminate , Carbs . Keep general track of Cals .

Intermittent isn't enough by itself , but if you combine with above , it's extra boost .

I have done low carb and ended up gaining it all back immediately. I was going to build muscle mass so my body naturally burns more calories. That worked for longer before.

I intend to lose weight, but how do y’all carry with a muffin top? I’m quite uncomfortable carrying, even with a quality holster, as the leather and grip rub against my skin and press in deep. Maybe over the winter I can lose some weight and for the meantime carry a revolver in a shoulder holster?
I carry in a paddle holster it's hard during the summer but /shrug it is what it is. IWB is brutal for us fatties. maybe try a belly band.

It's simple whether you cut carbs or not. Eat fewer calories than you burn. If you tried low carbs and then gained all the weight back, it's because you started eating a surplus of calories more than your body was burning. Eat healthier, count calories, pre-plan meals and snacks, and exercise. It's that simple, and it has to be a lifestyle change, or else you'll just end up back where you started. If you diet for a few months and then go back to eating excess calories, you would have done it all in vain.

You don’t understand the science of your-yo dieting, if you cut one thing in particular, you body goes into panic mode and begins storing everything after the deficit is lifted (this is how your ancestors survived famine and similar genetics to how bears can pack on pounds for hibernation season.) Eating a balanced diet with portion control is the scientifically proven non-corporate solution to weight loss. Low carb is an industry and the want you to bounce back so you go back on their very effective diet. I love quick results more than anyone and am demoralized when I don’t get the instant gratification, but I am also aware that I cannot achieve instant gratification and not regret it later. I’m changing my body chemistry (I guess the physical type of chemistry) to get my results. Packing on muscle increases your dry weight per-se with a non-insulating substance that increases your metabolism so you can eat more without gaining weight, but will lose more fat naturally if maintaining the same intake or decreasing it, as your body has more mass to heat, therefore increasing your metabolic rate.

I understand that you're body burns calories. If you take in less calories than your body is burning, you will lose weight no matter what diet you're on. Yes, I understand ketosis, intermediate fasting, and all the different diets that make loosing fat faster. Yes, of you have more muscle your body will burn more calories. Even still, the same phenomenal is true, calories in calories out. It's not as complicated as many make it seem. If you're using up more fuel/calories than you're replacing via your diet, there will be a deficit, which will result in your body using stored energy.

My point was that the problem with low carb is that it does become a lifetime commitment, or when you stop that you gain it all, and maybe then some, back.

Due to a back injury spent almost two years in a wheelchair. I'm a short rascal, 5' 4'' prior to back surgery and gastric by-pass my weight jumped to 304 pounds with a 56" waist. Within eight months my weight dropped to 165 pounds and a 35" waist. Now I pretty much stay around 175 and same waist size. Sadly it was pretty much impossible to carry on my person. The wife sewed a makeshift holster to my wheelchair for a j-frame. Since then carry my EDC in a OWB holster at 3:00 and the same j-frame in an ankle holster. I can't begin to tell you how depressing it was to weigh that much.

Well, in my case I can fully identify with an alcoholic or drug addict. I’m addicted to food and quite often the wrong food. I’ve been on diets since I was a teenager on and off up and down with the weight. The last go was about 15 years on Weight Watchers. I lost 80lbs. Diets work if you stick to them. After 15 years on this last one, I just can’t take it anymore. I’ll watch and be good for a few days and then fall off the wagon I could easily stand to lose 10 pounds. With the holidays coming? It’s gonna be torture. Hopefully a winter in Florida will help. I’ll be able to stay outside and move a little more. My body isn’t helping. I can only walk about 3 miles a day. That’s a lot better than what I’m doing now. Can’t wait for Sun in Florida.

I sure wish you the best been there done that on binge eating. Without the gastric by-pass surgery think I could have eaten myself to death. My surgery was old school they cut a lot of my stomach out added three rows of staples to seal it. Not suggesting you get by-pass surgery but it was my last resort. Good luck and happy holidays.

I am 5'-7" and weigh around 300LBS. Summer time I carry my LCP II in a pocket holster. My other main carries are an XDs .45 and a Keltec PF-9. I carry them at the 3 to 3:30 position IWB. I also have 2 Galco shoulder holsters . One is the original jack-*** rig and the other harness I grafted the holster from a Bianchi X-15 to it. I will use the latter to carry my new KImber DA/SA 3" revolver and maybe even my 5" garrison during winter months.

I have tried different diets But I can't walk very far and at my age I said heck ( well close ) with it. I'm going to eat what I want , in moderation , until my time is up.

By the way , keep in mind everyone , Carrying a firearm is not meant to be comfortable , it is meant to be comforting. (y)
