Couple open end wrenches

Who uses them, Why / Why not ???
I use them in all my semi automatic guns.
I just like being able to 100% know the chamber is unloaded without physically checking.
Bought them initially for use going to indoor ranges so the employees aren't fondling my guns.

Those aren't ear plugs?!! Well that explains a couple of things.....

The military does not use chamber flags or locks.
How about society and gun owners learn proper safety and rules of weapons loaded that dont involve “oh my god, a weapon is loaded”.
Leo, conceal carry and military are weapons hot.
Know the rules. If they call “chamber open” have a chamber open.
The orange flag is for all the retards.
Yep, said it.

Why do we bow down to the lowest demonitor for safety? A weapon is always loaded and always hot. Treat it as such.
A chamber flag just cuts corners.
An RO that needs a flag is being lax. Inspect.
If a firearm owner needs work on an open chamber, then they need a lot of work.

I actually got in an argument at Shoot Smart when they tried to make me take a lock because the manufacturer hadn’t provided one. Told ‘em I didn’t want it and it was going straight in the garbage can outside their front door. The woman continued to push the issue and I pointed out I had a premium membership with three local ranges all within a stones throw of each other and I was happy to make it two if she continued. I walked out, new gun in hand, the lock sitting on their display case.

Cable locks exist to deter young children who happen upon a firearm. Having investigated firearm deaths of children I think they are a useful alternative. I do not use them because my guns are either on me or locked in a safe but not everyone is so fortunate to have a safe. Before cable locks were common we used handcuffs through the frame of a service revolver for the same purpose.

Ya see I would have a giggle shooting there because shoot smart makes me think

When I worked for G4S they issued an M&P40 and the cable lock that came with it.

In theory the expectation was that on my way to and from work I would have G4S's unloaded gun cable locked to the frame of my car somewhere to prevent unauthorized access

On a side note, when the supervisor pulled it out of the Locking Cabinet in their "Arms Room" and opened the case to issue it to me he found that whoever had put the gun away before had done so with the gun loaded and chambered.

You know, I do not miss working for G4S

Laws vary .

On my home turf , it's State Law for most firearms to be sold with a lock .

Doesn't have to be locked on the gun , just in the case with the gun , as customer steps out the door .

I'll add a Pic later , but my LGS owning friend has a bucket of junk flimsy trigger locks to toss in box / case / bag if needed .

Back on the original topic :

Not ( commercial, rent by hour ) ranges , but actual Clubs ( the ones that are busy , and lots of shooters ) commonly have the Flags as part of the Range Rules .

80 % of shooters there may thing flags are either inherent stupid, or way over the top * as applied * . But follow their Rules on their Property , or Don't shoot .

I thought the manufacturers were including locks with new guns now. I think every single new gun I've ever bought has one in the case

KF'77, I think you pretty much nailed it when you said this above in msg44: "Why do we bow down to the lowest demonitor for safety?" ... Unfortunately it's precisely because of those 'lowest denominators' that the rest of us must take into account for our own, and our friends and family's safety. If we who do abide by and adhere to safety issues did not live among those 'lowest denominators', no one would ever be hurt/shot, but unfortunately 'they do live among us'. I don't see it as "bowing down" to them even as I agree with your sentiment, I see it simply as the world we live in. (y)(y)
