I just saw a news clip where the police did show up and tore down their barriers and threw the barriers and all the protester's chairs into a trash compacting truck. The protesters weren't happy their chairs were crushed! lol

Why don't the PD do something? It is simple; They are being told to stand down and stay out of it by the powers to be. The powers to be are kept in power by catering to the very people ICE is after. It's the same reason that a blind eye was turned toward the fake daycare and the same mindset a few years ago when their base was rioting and burning after Floyd. Those were called mostly peaceful protests.

Not entirely. ( So far ) no profit to be made , to kickback $ to the politicians.

But $ aside , the local politicians are playing up to their voting block . The obvious violations are state and local . Obstructing Roadway , Disorderly Conduct , etc . If they encountered any actual Federales, the Federal Charges would be Interfering with Government Operations .

On one level , the Feds could just roll up with a big convoy, including a couple of busses . Ask once " good afternoon, please step out of our way " , followed by rounding every up , and charge them all Federally .

BUT :

It will overload the Fed Lockup , overwhelm the U.S. Attorney office and the Federal District Court at minimum.

Have terrible optics , that will boost the other side.

Have double digit odds of setting off a major riot .
