Civics Teacher Overrules Supreme Court

Recusant

Hellcat
This Loudoun County. Virginia, civics teacher is on video indoctrinating students against gun rights. The teacher is telling her students to write what the student thinks the Second Amendment says, but that it had better not be that the Second Amendment gives them the right to own a gun! Later in the video she blames the Second Amendment for schools having to do “active shooter” drills and how much the intruder training courses she had to take scared her. As a former high school government teacher I find this most unprofessional.

It's Loudoun County. 'nuff said.

If you don't like the drills...quit.

If you don't like active shooters...shoot back.

"My teacher said to write what the second amendment meant to me. It means to me that I have the right to own a gun, so that I can shoot back at active shooters and kill them before they kill me and my friends. It means my friends can own guns and shoot back at active shooters, before they kill ME. It means that me and my friends can own guns, so we can stand up for ourselves and keep ourselves safe against anyone who wants to threaten us."

IMHO teaching Civics, and Government requires the teacher to be well versed in U.S. History. I have to wonder if this lady ever read or even heard of the Federalist Papers. Literature abounds from back in the day written by the founding fathers and others that clearly states their reasons for supporting the 2nd Amendment. This underscores the other problem we face today. Unless reading and critical thinking skills have greatly improved in the 7 years since I retired I suspect many of her students weren't motivated enough to try to understand what they had read. This means the students would have to rely on the teacher to explain what he or she believes is the meaning. Well, you can see how that worked out. Teachers like this are sowing the seeds for Democracy's demise.

They claim that what the people in the middle east do to kids is brainwashing ( I do not disagree), but do not see that they are just as guilty of brainwashing.

Any idea what school exactly she teaches for? There is a process that can be taken to remove her from miss informing our children and pushing her own agenda.
The Virginia Project which posted this on You Tube posted this in the comments section: Not going to give a name because a) we don't know her name; and b) calling out an individual misses the point, the point is that this stuff is everywhere. She's one of thousands of politicized teachers.

I can attest that she is one of many that need to keep their irrelevant feelings out of the classroom! But what's even more disturbing is that if she had been supportive of the 2nd Amendment she'd probably found herself out of a job.

Thanks for posting, now we know what some kids are up against?
Poor kids suffering through that biased hogwash? By the expression, not even sure teacher believes themselves?
Pretty scary interpretation, sounds like someone needs lot more vacation time.....or is on mental one already?
And, by the way, teacher gets an E - if that. Maybe teacher needs a better teacher?

What firearms and what 2nd Amendment means to me? Simply?
Is protection for anyone and everyone for the rights to provide food and protection for themselves by themselves.

Knowing the school system a little, likely has a math major....and that doesn't even add up sometimes?

Wow! Am very impressed by that writer. Thanks for posting a great article!
Have thought for years by results seen, many teachers were teaching or better said, were attempting to teach, kids how to take tests? We're maybe witnessing how well that worked out? Kids failing tests? Good education is the key to unlocking the world.

Not just some kids Bob, but it’s happening in some form or another throughout the Country. America is a racist country, we’re oppressor, the advancements of socialist principles, income equality & wealth distribution, etc. The sad part about all this, is that we the tax payers are funding these teachings to the youth of our next generations.

They are also passing kids who do not deserve to be passed.
Many years ago, I took a state test, I passed and went on with my career. About 8 years later there was an outcry that the test was to hard and that only had about a 15% passing rate. You could take the test every month if you wanted (you had to pay each time).
So the answer??? Make the test easier.
Now how would that work out if it were a test to be a doctor? A teacher? Or just about any profession that one must pass a state or government test to practice your chosen profession?
We are in a sad state of affairs in this country and that is all there is to it.

Agreed. "No Child Left Behind" is/was a disaster.

Have noticed too. Propaganda on both sides of the fence doesn't help. From experience, most people known from where ever w/o it get along quite well by themselves. Have acquaintances and friends from all over the world, good people. They notice too. I tend to look at people as people 1st, everything else is secondary. Yes, even some chickens and the dreaded female persuasions. Except am still ticked off at one who painted my nails while sleeping and that little 9 year old girl who put a Barbie dress on my G.I. Joe, that's just uncouth and inhumane torture? :)

This is not teaching - this is propagandizing. It is ( to some degree ) in all Pubic schools.

You can fight the teachers, the school, the school board, the Superintendents office and I hope you do.

Just another example that justifies my policy; home schooling.
