I might not admit it out loud, but my crack about bass players was highly facetious.

He also plays guitar and drums. In fact his first solo album, "McCartney" which alerted the world to the fact that The Beatles broke up and which he released before the Let it Be album was released which royally pissed off Lennon and Harrison and is one of my favorite albums every produced on the planet, was all Paul. Every instrument. It's also highly likely that Paul snuck into Abbey Road after the rest of the boys went home and re-recorded some of Ringo's drum tracks on Let it Be and Abbey Road.
He also played lead solos in "The End", Taxman, Got To Get You Into My Life and some other Beatle songs.

I bought Paul's first album as soon as it came out because i was determined not to like it. Quickly. I couldn't dislike it, and I tried.
It soon became one of my first 8-track tapes, if I remember right.
