I had a GF from the UK. That is how I learned about real kilts are 15 yards long.
She stated that yes men wear kilts are are perfectly fine with that in the UK but only females and wanna be females wear skirts.
She dated a Scotsman in the military and he kept a few of his military uniforms in her place in London.
She told me, yes the sottish military still wear Kilts and no, they still do not wear nickers.
LOL, they even have their leader during inspection walks around wearing a mirror on his boots to make sure you are not wearing nickers or anything else.

I do remember on the show, "Forged in Fire" many men wore kilts but I think that habit got started working directly in front of the fire.
