The little Chevy Corvairs were some of my favorite cars in the early 60's and they had a few really unique features. One was the cabin heater and the way it worked. Anyone know how? And some early models of VW used a similar system.

Fan on motor, you opened a shutter and heat directly from engine was, (Supposedly) ducted to the cabin. On the old VW’s you sometimes needed the ice scraper on the Inside. Good friend cut one of the ducts, wired in a 12v fan pulling (up front) and it would run you out. Also tons of fun if you had an exhaust leak or oil leak)

Oh yeah, I pumped a lot of gas during the gas wars of the 60's. And I would wash your windshield, check your tires and fluid levels, and give you green stamps and free glassware

and customers would drive to the next block to save 1 cent.gallon
