The first Christmas postage stamp was released in 1962. According to the USPS, the first Christmas stamp in the US featured a wreath, two candles and the phrase "Christmas 1962". It initially sold out pretty quickly and then was restocked with about 862 million being sold by the end of the year.

Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany. According to The Fact File, tinsel was created in Nuremberg, Germany in 1610. At one point in history, it was even made out of real silver.

Christmas trees are grown in all 50 states. Every state grows Christmas trees including Hawaii and Alaska, according to The Fact File. If you're in the market for a real Christmas tree, then you can find one in your state.

Fruits were the first ornaments. In the late 17th century, people used to decorate Christmas trees. In fact, edible ornaments were so popular that many began to call Christmas trees "sugar trees".

An old Ukrainian folk tale tells about a poor woman who was too poor to decorate her Christmas tree. As she slept, spiders wove her hundreds of intricate webs that served as beautiful ornaments. When Ukrainians find a spider web in their Christmas tree, they consider it good luck.

The average Christmas tree is 6 to 7 feet tall, but it can take as many as 15 years to reach that height. So the next time you buy your year's tree, take a moment to appreciate nature's handywork.
