I read repeatedly in the forums that people won't carry a proper handgun because it is inconvenient or uncomfortable. Then somebody else on the forums mentions pocket carry, and the response is "I wear jeans every day". Well, change your wardrobe! For Heaven's sake, buy some cargo pants or some pleated dress slacks and at least pocket carry. A collared shirt is never a bad idea either. Easy to hide a 1911 in an inside the waistband holster under a Hawaiian Shirt or other busy print shirt you leave untucked. Heck, even a stripped seersucker shirt untucked is almost dressy in today's low standard of acceptable dress.

If you are not carrying every day, you are sticking your fingers into the spinning fan blades of long odds; thinking it will never happen to you. Probably right. But with 60 in the rear view mirror (and I seem to be on of the younger regular posting members) I am quick to admit I am too old to go hands on anymore. I need a little help if I am assaulted. I carry every day. If I can't carry a proper sidearm, at least I pocket carry an old exposed ejector Colt Cobra (better sights) or at the VERY least a five shot J Frame S&W Bodyguard. Exercise your rights and carry!

I was once chastised by an Illinois state trooper when asked if I had my firearm on me during a traffic stop. I told the trooper that I didn't have my firearm that day, boy did I get an earful. Honestly I couldn't argue his facts 😬.
I was let off with a warning and have heeded his advice from that day forward.
Honestly, I was ill prepared to get an earful for NOT having a firearm that day from of all people the state police😁😁

May 13th of last year was the last time I wore work jeans or any other kind of pants. Since that day I've been retired and have only worn shorts. I carry my S&W J-frame in a Sticky holster in my front pocket of my shorts. If the pair of shorts I'm wearing won't fit my Sticky holster and I'm going to town, I'll switch over to my fanny pack which holds my HK VP9SK. I'm 60 years old myself, and I hope there is never a day in the future where I "might" have to wear pants!

I have to wear a suit every day. Not chinos and a blazer, a suit. And a tie. When I get home its cargo shorts and a t-shirt, usually.

My compromise is to drop my Colt Agent into my back pocket. Its h*ll on the pocket of my slacks, but it's the only option I have .... why? Because I am in and out of a courthouse 2 or 3 days a week, sometimes multiple court houses.
At those times it goes into the pocket on the door of the F150.

I do what I have to do.

My son told his friend who was complaining about old folks delaying lines and just being in the way and wasting his time when he was in a hurry. He told the guy never underestimate a old man,one day you will find out when that old guy will not put up with pushing him aside or something worse.

that's right, cuz i do not take BS from some punk in line either. i have been known to scream out loud
F-OFF" at them.

you wanna see them back off, and other people in line take care of them..??

it most certainly has happened to me a time or two.

I myself don’t dwell on what I wear when I carry, I just make sure during summer months my shirt conceals my gun and it doesn’t print, I usually buy a size bigger then I normally wear, I always carry OWB, now winter time, I just wear my normal size shirts since I am wearing a jacket or coat, now the biggest thing is to practice to safely draw your gun…..I can’t stress how much importance this is.

I wear jeans every single day-there’s n FN Reflex in a kydex holster in my front pocket this minute. Some jeans have nice deep pockets with a good size opening, others not so much. With the right jeans it’s not a problem

Also for those that wear jeans, I used to every day. But try cargo pants! They are WAY more comfortable than jeans, pockets are handy and perhaps best of all they are considered "dressy" compared to jeans. Along with a collared shirt, I get treated better at restaurants than a slob wearing ill fitting filthy jeans, an unkept beard and a Glock Perfection T-shirt. Well, not just restaurants. Everywhere. I consider each of us Ambassador's For The Second Amendment, and we do nothing to help our cause looking like a bunch of hobos.

IDK the way many people dress today is just sloppy. I see guys wearing sandals who look like they never put clippers to toe nails

My general rule is no shorts when the temperature is under 3 digits and then only before 6pm. No sandals when more than 10 miles from the ocean and again only before 6pm. No plastic shoes, ever.. No baseball caps, and certainly not backwards, and most certainly not with the tags/stickers still in place. There are "work" clothes for gardening and lawn care but not for shopping unless at a garden store.... theres more but Im pretty sure what I said pisses off some

I remember when we were working a security detail and one of the guys dressed in jeans and a t shirt needed help from the local PD. They werent especially helpful until I showed up in a Brooks Bros suit and everything changed. His jeans were appropriated for his assignment but did not get respect

You probably have prettier legs than I do... 🤣 😁:p

All great points regarding concealed carry and dress... I agree with everyone on most of what's been stated.

When carrying, one should dress appropriately for the occasion, particularly when out in public. The practitioner of concealed carry should "blend in" and not call attention to themselves because of clothing that "doesn't belong". Sometimes it is just little things that don't quite fit in, sometimes its the entire outfit. I'm not saying that we should all become fashion snobs, but we should at least be aware of how well we blend in (or don't).

you really are going to upset @SimonRL with that comment.
He swaggers around as a trend setter....
Too right. You gotta be able to fit in skinny jeans to pass judgement!
