Dress Code

Dress code be hanged! What many do not know is the last 5 years of my first career, I was required to wear coats and ties everyday. Whenever I had to travel to Phoenix to see the impotant people (Governor and down, it was suits. I swore I would never dress like that again!

I haven't yet..... 😂 😆 😂
I had to wear a suit and tie for 12 yrs.
Required for work. Could ditch the tie and coat if it got to above 100 degrees. In texas, that was most of July- Sept.
Other than that, suit required.
I have 12 suits in my closet that need to go to donation with about 20 ties.
All $$$$ suits and ties

I donated quite a few Brooks Bros suits to Goodwill. I still have a couple for special occasions but try my best to avoid those. T shiirts and carpenter jeans or 5.11's are my wardrobe. For more formal occasions a button up collared shirt. I even put on socks on occasion.

My one year anniversary of not wearing pants is next week!

Same here. Nieman Marcus or brooks brothers. Drake and kilton ties
Have not touched them in like a decade
Doubt the suits even fit

Interesting thoughts on attire. Living on the S Texas coast, shorts / jeans are the lower body choice by a wide margin. T Shirts, Fishing/Hunting vented shirts, loose printed shirts are the dress code here. Fully understand this isn't the attire for a Hamptons Q. Clothes with breathing room that are the common attire out in the masses lets you blend in with the crowd IMO. I will say for me, when I see an adult in cargo pants / shorts I think gun. Between Cargo / Ruger T shirt I watch Cargo. In the end dress the way you want and enjoy each day ☀️

I used to date a nurse on the night shift back in the day. I would swing by after work and we would have dinner together. I was a suit and tie guy back then. Got to slinging a stethoscope around my neck and NOBODY ever asked any questions as I wandered around. They just assumed I was someone important. Lesson learned. I have a friend that claims he can get anywhere with a clipboard and a confident smile. Took me up to watch a Royals Game with the camera man to prove his point. All I am saying is tighten up. It is for your own good, from a traffic stop to restaurants to Hospitals. You look like an old hippie, you will be treated like one. Camouflage is a basic military staple. Use it to your advantage. What advantage does a long and scraggly beard and a T shirt offer you? And that is a serious question, because I don't know. I understand and capitalize on playing the "Haves" game. Give me a few good reasons to look homeless.

IDK, I enjoy dressing for a formal occasion. It reminds me of who I am. There are time for casual and times for formal. My issue is "we" seem to have chosen lazy and sloppy over class.

The really really cool thing is at the end of a formal event, you can untie your bow tie and let it hang. THAT separates you from the guys who wear a clip on....

I have no problem with casual or for that matter long hair or beards as long as they are trimmed and combed, otherwise you get this...

Does the guy on the left look much different than the homeless guy on the right?

Poncho brand and 5.11 shirts are great for ccw and have a nice quality look to them. Not inexpensive, but they can be worn casually with shorts or for outings that require a little more finesse like a nice restaurant or gathering out on the town
