I just noticed that the barrel and slide of the Echelon both have the COG serial number on them. Is this for warranty purposes, or something that Illinois has mandated? Just curious.

As I understand it, this is a European regulation. You find the same thing with Walthers and HKs. The slide and barrel will have the same serial as the lower, even though the lower is the serialized part.

Yes, the factory barrel and slide have the serial number on them.
