Favorite micro or small frame revolver

By far my favorite small revolver is a S&W 642 that S&W gave me as replacement for my Model 38 Bodyguard, which they said they didn't have the requisite parts to repair at that moment. The Model 38 was my backup/ informal off-duty gun for about 24 years and had a great deal of sentimental value. That said, the 642 is superior in that it doesn't gobble up trash through the open hammer slot.

I spent about 8 years keeping the Bodyguard in shape as well as a lady supervisor's who had its twin. Her gun rode in her purse and the first time I had the side-plate off I was appalled at the volume of trash inside it.
Mrs Greener and I gave our son a 642 Airweight as a police academy graduation gift. He likes to carry it in a cargo pocket.

Five .22WMR ain't nutin to sneeze at.
OH, BTW, I expect a bunch of check mark/helpful as a pat on the back. Just figured out how to make the picture of the 638 smaller and not take up the whole damn page. NOT because I'm clever mind you just pure dumb luck. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I Understand completely

Hmmm I really wanted to like the Charter Arms Bulldog in 44spl but those slim grips magnified the recoil. Once I added wider grips, it was a powder puff. Ive got a SW 442 that looks like it was dragged on the way to the gunshop, so I picked it up cheap. Its surface ugly only and carries nice in an ankle holster.

Its hard to pick a favorite between the Ruger SP101 and the Colt Lawman; both have a place in my heart and carry inventory. The Ruger is heavy compared to the 442 but makes hot loads pleasant. The Colt is welllll, a Colt and that ends most arguments

When tiny means TINY I do like the NAA Mini Guns

I carry these 2 on occasion, 1 at a time though :giggle:. Both 357 but I load them with 38+P.

Reference the Kimber. I put 70 rounds of .357 through mine when it was brand new, thinking I should/could. And that was the last time I fired .357 through it 😂. Had to skip next couple of weeks of regular weekly range trips due to ridiculous bruise at my thumb base…and even then, it took a few more weeks before I could shoot without still feeling it a bit in the same spot, no matter what handgun I shot. I would use .357 in it in a heartbeat for SD, but not at the range (except for maybe just a dozen every year or so for function/familiarity - and that’s a big maybe 😃 )!

Try doing it with the lighter Ruger LCR. I only put two cylinders through mine, and I felt like I had a severe case of arthritis for week. My hand was numb and my joints hurt...

That's with a 17oz LCR with thick rubber Hogue grips... Those who have fired full powered .357 out of their 11.4oz S&W 340PD must just hate themselves because why else would they do it?

I can't say that I'd carry .357 for self-defense out of these small lightweight snubs because my accuracy would be all over the place and my hearing would be damaged. A .38 SPL +P can get the job done. I'll save the .357 for my 30+ oz revolvers.

I hear you. I “had” a Ruger LCR specifically in .38 sp +P. Once I fired 50 rounds of the same .38 sp +P (Winchester RA38B Ranger 38 Sp 130g +P Bonded JHP) I comfortably shoot out of the Kimber, the LCR became trade fodder. Only 50 rounds I ever shot out of it.

Think that’s one of the reasons why I like the 432Ti UC so much. Seems the H&R round is better suited for the lightweight guns, at least for me.

I start out with .357 because that's what I use for EDC. After about 20 rounds of .357, I switch over to .38 special for the rest of my range time.

Airweights like the 642 havd their place, but. When doing CCW courses part of my course was on how to select a carry gun. Even so, I often got low information novices, usually older ladies, who showed up with an Airweight revolver. Because some gun shop salesman or well meaning friend or family member told them they needed a small lightweight revolver. At the end we shot a 50 round qualification course. Many of those novices were ready to throw those little revolvers away after one string. Some put up with the beating and got through the course, some could not. I found novices did a lot better with an all steel Model 19 snub or a Commander size semi auto like a Sig P320 compact or P229 of Glock 19. The problem is, if you are recoil sensitive and it is painful to shoot it, you will not practice with it and that makes it less than ideal as a carry gun.

If we're talkin' mini autos, how'bout the Seecamp and the NAA Guardian. I love them both but they are last ditch guns. You get ONE finger on the grip. Its not a recoil issue; just hard to grip. They are great for carry when wearing a kilt; but I wouldnt want to have a target at more than bad breath distance .

My GoTo small carry is a PPK

I have a Kimber da/sa w/3" BBL. I took 50 rounds of .357 to the range along with 100 rounds of .38. I'll let you all guess which ammo I still had plenty of at end of range session.

I traded in a 642 performance center on my kimber. I have not been disappointed.

I own a couple of snubnose 357's but Im not sure how much MAGNUM performance you get from a 2" barrel...OTOH you do get room clearing muzzle blast, which I suppose is a SD tool???
