First Look: Echelon Alpha 4.0C

Ok, I think just about everyone on here knows I'm a HUGE Echelon fanboy. I have been since day one. I've have owned or currently own every model of factory Echelon that has been produced so far.
My question on this is "why"? The Echelon is an almost perfect handgun as it is. I guess the new Alpha is fine if someone wants a newly designed slide (the original was perfect to me), and it's great if Springfield wants to introduce a "budget" version but IMHO, Springfield had a chance to address the elephants in the room and didn't.
The two elephants being one, the trigger. The trigger is fine for a duty issue gun but can be improved. The pull on the trigger creates a pinch point at full pull that will pinch a blister on your finger if you're not careful. They could've shortened the trigger to fix this and secondly, the hump in the backstraps that many people don't like. Springfield needs to offer a straight backstrap so the gun has a more 1911-ish grip. This is really what I would like to see in a future innovation.
And while I'm on the soapbox, Springfield needs to offer the COG as a standalone unit like Sig does. I have collected enough parts to build another Echelon, all I'm lacking is the COG.

While it's great to see Springfield coming out with NEW versions, I'd sure like to see some of stuff that, if modified slightly, would make the Echelon the PERFECT edc.

Pic of some of my Echelons for attention..

While those may be complaints for you, I and many others don't share them.

I'm a member on quite a few Echelon Forums on Facebook and Reddit and I see lots of people that share my opinion. Many people end up swapping their triggers to the Tyrant version so that they don't get the blister/pinch and get a better reset. There are a few aftermarket companies addressing the backstrap issue, I would just like to see Springfield address it and I think this is a missed chance. I would've actually bought this version if it offered something more than a modified slide..

I understand what your saying. No pistol fits everyone the same. Just like Glocks, some don't like the grip hump either, some don't mind. I like the Echelon hump, it kinda feels like a Glock hump that I'm so use to.
