First Look: Echelon Alpha 4.0C

I'm a member on quite a few Echelon Forums on Facebook and Reddit and I see lots of people that share my opinion. Many people end up swapping their triggers to the Tyrant version so that they don't get the blister/pinch and get a better reset. There are a few aftermarket companies addressing the backstrap issue, I would just like to see Springfield address it and I think this is a missed chance. I would've actually bought this version if it offered something more than a modified slide..
Have you tried hitting the trigger with your handbag? 🤪😇

Seriously. I really like the new serrations on this slide, it looks more aggressive. The styling of the slide has always been a bit meh to me, but I’m definitely interested in this offering. I have a 4in Compact PDP and I really like that configuration. Does anyone know if you can use extended mags with this model?

Same frame as the regular 4.0 so yes.

Thanks. I actually confirmed online and went ahead and ordered the Alpha and an 18 rd mag.
You'll need the mag spacer to use the extended mags to fill the space between the mag base and the bottom of the grip. If that's something that matters to you. I actually have a couple that I don't need anymore, free to you if you want them, for only postage.

Picked up the Alpha today. It comes in a plane jane white box - it reminded me of the days of generic beer back when I was in college! Open the box and one mag, two screws, a bike lock and you’re good to go. As I mentioned previously I’ve never been a big fan of the slide on the Echelon and this new slide appeals a bit more. The serrations are deep and aggressive and look more “mean”. The gun was super clean and dry as a bone. I lubed it, mounted a spare Holosun 507C on it and headed to the range with a couple of friends.

It took me 9 rds to get the optic zeroed and I was off to the races. I ran 25 rds through the VP9, Echelon and PDP and found all three to feel pretty much the same, which is a good report because I have many thousands of rounds through the HK and Walther and for the Echelon to effectively blend right in was pretty significant. I ran 60 rds total through the Echelon and it was business as usual. A good first outing. VP9 left, Echelon center, PDP right. I shot this target at 10 yds and was able to run the Echelon pretty fast without any problems. Fast double taps were no problem. I’m looking forward to getting additional rds through this gun I like a 4 in gun and this one acquitted itself well against a couple of heavyweights.
