One could be paying much more for a custom 1911. Wilson Combat etc For a simi custom the price is about right. I believe I payed a little over 1700 for my TRP in standard government. Again.... Worth every penny.

TRP imo are a bargain of sorts, especially if you carry them all the time
they toss in great features
i am partial though to operators and the loaded models as well
oh crap its a 1911 its wanting me to take it home
the new tweaks are pretty nice , new grips and the tan /gold color is eye catching

That's where I get hung up as well. When I bought my TRP years ago, they were several hundred dollars less than a DW. Now that they are $2k (street price probably a little less), I'd probably just cough up a little more and get another DW.

Very nice ! I own a Springfield Operator and Defender both solid firearms. Would expect the same from these.

My only 2 critique of it is a high MSRP and the 2 piece guide rode. While I like steel frame commanders and Colt only offers it in alloy in their combat unit line up.


Setting those reasons aside the Colt Combat unit line is substantially less MSRP than the TRP as well as other makes like DW, Staccato and others. Wish them luck.

Nice pistols, especially the 4.25" with bobbed tail version. I wonder if the black Gen2 Speed trigger is the same plastic Gen2 Speed trigger they install oem on the Ronin. I replaced it on mine with a Wilson.

They look great, but they’re essentially the same TRP’s they’ve been making for decades, along with an MC Operator with checkering. If they had offered a 9mm TRP that actually would have been something new that would have moved the needle. I have no idea how no one in Springfield Armory thought to put these out in 9mm first, and maybe add some .45’s after the initial batch.

According to Bill Wilson, over half of all Wilson Combat 1911’s are now ordered in 9mm. He and Ken Hackathorn have praised the combination. Not much more credibility out there than that.
