If it wasn’t a negative, the high end manufacturers would be using MIM.


They don’t. They use tool steel.
 
On a different note, does anyone actually own one of the 4.25 models? I’m curious about how they handle the .45 rounds in the shorter barrel, recoil, flip, follow-ups, etc.

Been a while since I bought a 1911 and thinking this might be a nice range/HD model. Not married to the 4.25, just have always preferred the commander size to full size.

I should have said it wasn’t a negative performance wise for 99.9% of shooters. Who won’t shoot a single gun over 50k rounds. All tool steel guns are of course available at a significant price increase.
