Flight considered crime scene after bullet found.

A few years ago I flew to Ft Lauderdale, my carry on bag was the bag that I used to carry my cop gear back and forth to the station everyday. I checked it double checked it and rechecked it to make sure there were no loos rounds in any crevasse. My lady friend who wasnt really a shooter but on occasion might accompany me; anyway when we went through security SHE got signaled out to have her bag sniffed.

I suspect it was our bags having sex in the truck on the way to the airport...Thats my story and Im sticking to it

The last time I went to Afrika I was wearing a Photographer vest because it has lots of pockets. I had cell phone cords, cords for the Ipads plus chargers etc. I also had two rolls of quarters, a pair of titanium chop sticks, and a pad lock on a bandana.... In one of the pockets was a "tactical pen" that my mom had bought me years before to use as a cop AND two stainless steel Zebra brand pens that I actually did use as a cop.

When I went through TSA the young agent stopped me for the "Tactical Pen" but nothing else. He said I couldnt have it on the plane because it was a weapon and said it had to go with my checked luggage. I ended up gifting it to him one cop to another. The crazy thing is all the other items would have made better weapons. We had lunch before the at a restaurant across from the gate. As I waited for the meal, I ate the appetizer with the chop sticks and filled a leather pouch with the quarters... Weapons are where you find them and airport security is the Ka bookie theatre of the air.

A customer of mine was stopped by Canadian border patrol, car searched (driving over from Int. Falls to Ft. Francis on a fishing trip). a single 9mm round was found loose in the back of his Suburban. After 4 hours of delay and interrogation they let him go. All that comes to mind is patrol your brass, boys. Especially in your vehicles taken to the range and hunting trips.

Hi,

A number of years ago I flew from California to attend the World Freefall Convention in Quincy, Illinois. I took my entire parachute rig as my carry-on. Nobody said a thing, except to express curiosity. Yes, this was before 9/11. Somehow I doubt I'd be able to do that again.

Then just a few years ago my backpack set off alarms and a swab detected gun powder. I guess it came in contact with my range bag. Thankfully there were no other issues. Those TSA folks sure get excited when they find something. It must be a boring and thankless job most of the time.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
