This is the start. We’ll see how quickly other manufacturers embrace this technology on pistol mounted optics. I will say that 800 hrs is the blink of an eye in the red dot galaxy.
 
I thought I read these were for military and police only thus far.

And I agree, 800 hours with no shake awake, always on will eat batteries like crazy unless you want to keep it on off and try and remember to turn it on at o-dark-thirty when things go bump in the night.

I don’t mind turning off the holographic sight on my Hellion - I don’t use it for home defense. Home defense guns have Trijicon RMR always on or Holosun Shake awake.

I DO think it’s great they are still trying to advance the technology of dots on pistols (being an old man with old eyes).

I’m thinking it would be more like Trijicon’s technology where it turns itself way down after a set number of hours. Trijicon’s says theirs last 4 years, but that’s not holographic. And I’m sure that’s best case.

I’d be alright with an annual battery change if I can pre-predict it. In the early days of basic RDS I changed them about every 6 months anyway, batteries are cheap.
