For you 1911 guys how many mags do you carry?

I typically carry TWO spare mags even for a double stack 9 OR 5.7, so thats minimum 45 rounds (9mm) and 70 rounds for 5.7x28. Ive been toying with carrying a 1911 again. Carrying more than two spare mags seems excessive even for me; but 8+8+8 is only 24, so Im scratching my head

I only carry one of my .45's the Dan Wesson Valor, in a shoulder holster under my jacket. 8 round mags, one in the gun 2 extras.

All my other 1911's I consider collectables. So, no extra mags for them but what came with the gun.

The best alternative to the "Six Pack" that Ive come up with is from TUFF Products

They make them for single and double stack mags AND to hold different number of mags; but nylon and velcro just doesnt seem right for 1911 mags...
 
I was going to be a smart *** and say “all of them”….. and then I saw the pics above. Clearly, one can carry “all”!
 
1911's only use clips. Don't you know anything 🤣. The best part about them is the plastic :unsure: as the ONLY hold 8+1 it makes you feel like you're on a date🤷‍♂️. When I had a 1911 in 45acp iirc only had 2 clips

Hahaha yes He was the novel version of Guns & Ammo in the 80s. You either loved of hated his books but his write-ups of the guns he described were spot on. Chances are none of us will ever need or carry a Six Pack but if needed it sure seems like a cool accessory

Today less and less of us carry 1911s as a self defense weapon, hi caps have taken over; even so as the Hollywood Shoot out showed us ammo on hand can be a huge plus. I doubt as a civilian in peaceful times as opposed to "mostly peaceful protests" that any of us will need six spare mags; Buuuuut Im back to it being really cool

Carry 1, carry 2. If you look good you feel good. I'll carry one and pray I never have to pull my weapon.
