Before my indoor range closed, I rented one, really liked it, as said, grip is wider, also as @Old_Me said it’s a bull barrel design, best to watch a video on it first before you take it down, one is on my want list as soon as I catch up on medical bills, sure you will like it.Ok I’ll admit that I been looking at the Prodigy lately. It’s a hit or miss if I find it in my travels. So basically I haven’t held it yet.
My questions are. How reliable are they? How hard is it to field strip it? Does the take down like a traditional 1911?

Are you looking at the shorter one for potential carry or the longer for range/home self-defense?
They do make a 10 round versionI looked at those and my biggest concern is finding magazines for them. Just remember I’m in a blue state that hates us 2A people
I would suggest reviewing the history on this very website regarding issues with the platform. There were tons of different threads covering that topic soon after launch. Maybe they all got fixed.
Had a Prodigy for a while ..... Very early one with under a 1700 serial number. Never got to where I liked it a lot.
A Marvel Cut on the slide really helped with issues it was having. Magazines needed cleaned up from burrs on the feed lips that never got cleaned up after the stamping.
Hated having to use plates to mount optics. They were pretty hard to find back then.
Out of the 2011 guns I tried. The only two I currently own are a Wilson Combat EDC X9 Experior and a Dan Wesson DWX Compact, neither which is a true 2011. The DWX gets shot the most since I really like the CZ 75 style grip frame.
