"Grand Reopening" Event at GSIR in Hudson, NH

The Indoor Range in Hudson, NH has been remodeling and increased their retail space in the last few months. They've always offered a good amount of guns, accessories, suppressors, ammo and more, but space was always a restriction.

Tomorrow (Saturday 9/30/2023) is the opening of the new retail space. They've done a good job and created a decently modern and convenient retail space, including a full wall of guns for sale, reminiscent of the wall of SIG's store in Epping, NH. They've said they will have vendors from multiple OEM, most certainly Mossberg and SIG, hopefully Springfield too (although somehow they were shunned during the Echelon events and the only range in New England was in CT of all places!). Could be a good event with decent pricing on many things and an opportunity to meet some reps from the OEM, maybe worth the drive.

I like Granite State Indoor range but the price increase on the range rental rates from $20.00 to $30.00 during the week is way too expensive and the increase to $40.00 for a weekend day is definitely not worth the cost considering most people at these rental ranges shoot for less than an hour.

where i go, it's $25 an hour anytime....$35 for 2 shooters, sharing the same port.

which is why i buy a membership. for all the times i go, i believe after like 14 times, all the other times after that are "free"

i dunno, i believe that to keep it clean, pay the RSO's a decent wage, have the store, classroom, insurance they must have, for me i think any price is worth it

I do pay $40/month as a member for unlimited range time, guns at cost (last one was a Mossberg 940 Pro Tac for $865 as member, MRSP is $1,100 and non-members price $970), no transfer fees, 20% off ammo and 10% discount on classes. This pays for itself mostly if going often enough and buying enough guns. They don't beat internet prices (although they did on the Mossberg), but come close often. I'd do the Sig range membership if it wasn't 1h away each way, GSIR is a 10 minutes drive, mostly empty during the week at lunch time.

You're right, I wouldn't pay $30 for one session, heel no! They also make a killing on rentals. I often feel sorry for the 5-6 guys groups coming there, having so much fun with renting a Scar, Desert Eagle and a couple AK sending countless rounds down range not necessarily doing the math of how much all this is going to cost at the end. It's always fun to hear the cashier "that's be $349" and watch everybody's jaw drops

It sounds like there's definitely some good benefits to become a member there with the discounts.

They also have a lower tier membership which is $20/month or so, that gives you the unlimited range and that's it. My wife is on this membership instead of me "inviting" her every week, so I can keep my invites for others.

For the other membership tier, there is a $150 "initiation fee", but once or twice a year, they wave it for a few weeks to drive memberships up. The gun discounts are pretty good, the M17 was less than $600, at the time it was cheaper than the SHOOTSIG Team pricing, before this year's readjustment (M17 with SHOOTSIG pricing is now $502!).

In general, buying 1-2 decent guns a year pays for the membership for the whole year. That's my rationale and so far my wife hasn't argued with that "logic". She actually demanded my M18 when I got the M17, so I guess it all works out in the end

well, for a few people to go out and celebrate someone's birthday at a pub, food, drinks, TIPS, it's gonna be a whole lot more.

Pro Digy II, Thanks for the invite. I'd love to go, but it would be an extremely long drive for me up Interstate 95. But it's great to see a gun shop having a Grand Reopening in today's political climate. I hope they make lots of money!

They're not perfect, but who is anyway, but they do a decent job. Most people who work there are nice and knowledgeable. I want them doing well since it's a 10 min drive for me.

I definitely hear you on the drive, not worth it. If they ever go out of business I'd have to move closer to SIG in Epping!

Granite State range has always had a really good staff there and the firearms are not overpriced like the other big rental range in the area.

What are the grand reopening hours tomorrow? I may go by there if I'm able.

I agree, all around good guys! The even is all day, with raffles all day. Give nit's a Saturday, I think it's 9AM-9PM but could be 10AM-8PM, they haven't really said (weird, I know). That being said, here's the raffle schedule, which makes me believe it's 9AM-9PM:

10AM – Savior Specialist Range Bag
11AM – Savior Specialist Double Rifle
12PM – Otis Cleaning Package
1PM – Walker’s Eyes and Ears Package
2PM – Edgar Sherman Sling
3PM – Otis Elite Cleaning Kit
4PM – Radian Raptor LT and Talon Set
5PM – CMC AK47 Trigger
6PM – CMC AR Trigger
7PM – Free Class at GSIR
8PM – Sig P226 SAO Optic Ready

That's some nice benefits for sure.

I think it is. Honestly I didn't really do comparison shopping, they were pretty much the closest and accessible right away vs. the several Hunt Clubs that might have bigger facilities but no store, no training classes and a waiting list.

I feel they are competitive, but that might be my own wishful thinking. I do keep an eye on prices, especially for accessories (no discount there) which are sold at MSRP, nothing wrong with that, just not the best deal. The Holosun EPS I got was $439 at the range (still decent price), about $100 less with rebates online...

GSIR prices for firearms are pretty competitive with other stores in the area and they are even better priced than some. I've bought a few firearms and receivers from them in the past. I've also picked up some AR build parts there that nobody else had in stock locally. I don't spend much time at indoor ranges anymore because the club I belong to offers more of what I'm looking for.

You got a good price on that shotgun. When they first released them I had a conversation with someone with inside information and he told me they expected those shotguns to level off at around $800. Beretta countered with the Ultima around the same price range. I'm a Beretta guy and will drop the extra $500 for the 1301T every time, but if I was on a " Much more constricting budget" I would take that Mossberg over the Ultima. I haven't gotten my hands on an Ultima yet, but I did get a chance to handle and shoot the 940 and I couldn't find anything wrong with it. It compares pretty closely with my 1301.

I was hesitating between the Ultima & the 940 and was really on the fence, nothing seems to clearly separate these two except for the Ultima seems a little more difficult to find... I found one and was going to get it at Bereli for $900, but saw the 940 at the LGS and it came down to instant gratification vs. waiting a week for the thing to arrive: fill out the form at the LGS, go shoot a little at the range with the wife, come back and the paperwork is approved and the thing is read to go... Doesn't get any better than that as far as instant gratification. Boys will be boys I guess. At least that's what my wife said when she realized I was picking up a shotgun at the end of our shooting session :D

The 940 is very easy to shoot, so far only slugs since the range won't let us spray buck shots across 5 lanes, but it's a smooth shooter, fun as heck. One day I'll upgrade to the M4, the LGS has one actually but $1,900 was a bit much.

I handled the 940 and the A300 Patrol at Northeast Munitions in Merrimac, NH and I ultimately decided to go with the A300 Patrol.

The 940 had a better feeling smoother trigger but the A300 had other options that I preferred over the 940's trigger like the rail and aggressive grips texture on the grip and fore end. Either shotgun would be a great choice and I have to give the 940 the credit to accept a wider choice of aftermarket accessories including upgraded stocks that the A300 doesn't support.
