So, I seem to have developed a taste for the H&R/NEF single shot rifles and shotguns in the last few years.......

I have four others in various calibers, and gauges.

Yesterday when I was on Gunbroker, and I found another.......
The Model 1871 Buffalo Classic in 45-70.

The seller is actually one of my local haunts, a very well stocked pawn and gun shop, so there's no waiting for shipping as I'll pick it up tomorrow.

I've been doing some research as to the rifles use.

It seems it's a bit of a b@$+@rd........

SASS rules exclude it because of its barrel mounted rear sight, and as a long range rifle it's hampered by the same sight. And since there is no tang, there's no tang mounted rear sight to be had....

Neither is much bother to me, I can mount glass on it with no trouble.

But we'll see......
 
I had one back when the first came out. Very fun shooters. Used it several times on side matches when I was shooting sass competition. I loaded 12 grain of Green dot under a 405gr cast lead bullet. Fun for sure.
