Handguns — Manual Thumb Safety, or No?

It wouldn't be the first thing Ayoob said that I totally disagree with. If he is advising safeties on striker guns in his "Expert" capacity that explains why I take everything he says with a grain of salt.
And the finger isn't the safety, your brain is. If your trigger gets caught on your clothing or in any other way gets pulled unintentionally there's only one reason. Your own negligence.

A 1911 without a safety, who could imagine such a thing ? Even my DA/SA would be good with a safety because then I could carry it cocked and locked if I wanted. I am happy enough with the decocker, but still.
