at the very least, it'll cut down a bit on the gene pool.........


i'm sure a "few knuckleheads"........are already making such plans.......
 
Davis had been testing his vest on himself routinely. After having broken ribs over the years, he put a phone book behind the vest to test his handy work. There was an 8 hour video tape floating around in the 90s with all of his "self tests" recorded. I loaned it out to someone and haven't seen it since.
 
In the 80's and 90's Second Chance reps were showing up at LEO Executive conferences and poliice training conferences shooting themselves as demos. Always made me nervous. Body armor is expensive and they had to convince executives to spend the money. I can recall a time when officers shared a vest and put it on when going into a risky situation. I can also remember schools doing bake sales, Rotary Club fundraisers,etc, to raise money to buy vests. Now they are basic issue. Many, many lives have been saved by these vests and training.

Seems to me you could demonstrate the exact same thing without risking a human. The bullet will either go through the vest armor or not, regardless of the backstop.

Someone mentioned Tide pod challenges above. As stupid as that “challenge” is, this is exponentially more stupid, at least IMO.

And again, as mentioned above, wonder how long before we see someone trying it today? And of course they won’t take into account the improvements to guns AND ammunition made since the 80s, and someone will probably die.

And the first ones were square cut. You could choke yourself out if you bent over. It took years before L.A. finally considered them safety equipment.
 
Back in the dark ages, I remember reading of Richard C. Davis telling of selling 2nd chance vest, out of his car, by visiting police dept. and having someone shoot him in the vest. He used to put a phone book between him and the vest. When asked why he said it hurts like hell without the phonebook, with it, it just hurts.
