What is your preferred home defense weapon that you keep nearby for this purpose.

I keep a 10in SBR AR in .300blk suppressed with a pressure switch light mounted by my bedside in the event that something goes bump in the night then I can bump back quietly...🤫

I keep both a baseball bat and a .45 within reach. I prefer to use the bat first if there is only one or two intruders. GSWs make a damn big mess you'll have to clean up and paint over.
Before firearms entered my world i too had a bat at the bedside. Until a LEO friend of mine reminded me that you need to ā€œget in close and personalā€ for use. After that i kept and ABC fire extinguisher close.

Having had a bunch of PR-24 training, I'm pretty comfortable getting up close with a baseball bat. I have an aluminum child's 24" T-Ball bat.

Strategy when awaken by noise downstairs:
1) Set all cameras to "record".
2) Turn all downstair lights on.
3) Send the 4 legged flea bags downstairs first. If I don't hear gunfire or the screech of death come from the dogs, I'll go to my perch to to observe.
4) Give the perp the choice of living or dying.
5) Do whatever needs to be done.

Strategy when awaken by noise upstairs:
1) Turn the hounds loose!
2) Follow closely behind the 4 legged fleabags a-swingin!
3) Should the need arise, open fire. Last resort but I'll do it!

P226 next to my head
Braced SP5 w/Holosun on dresser, 3 steps away
Both loaded with 147-grain HST.

While I like the idea of a suppressor and know I'll be deaf without one...too much govt for my taste. I'm hoping that BS about adrenaline saving your hearing turns out.

I live alone and don't like people enough to have guests over...I'm not worried about keeping them in a safe while I'm there:cool:

Yup. I have a 27ā€ louisville slugger aluminum bat. It is still near but lives under the bed now.

Unsupressed 9mm indoors can reach up to 170 decibels which can cause immediate hearing damage and hearing loss. Thats similar to the decibels of a flashbang. If you are ever exposed to such tramatic hearing trauma I would highly recommend seeing an ENT right away so they can get you on a steroid regimen to possibly save your hearing from permanent damage.

No. I live in a ā€œless than free stateā€ so suppressors are not allowed for me. When i can move to a better state i will be get the threaded version and run a suppressor. I wish S&W would come out with it in 45 though to match the M&P45 in the nightstand.
.45ACP suppresses nicely because its typically loaded subsonic.
