I need help, HCP EDC missing piece

OP…I agree with others on you should send it in to get it properly repaired - especially in CA. But then again, I have no idea how hard it would be for you to get it back (hoops to jump through, etc.).

I do applaud you for realizing it should be corrected based on where you live and the law. I’ve no knowledge of how handgun descriptions on the CA “roster” and placed on your permit are supposed to go, but I’ve read a lot about zero modifications after it’s on the “roster”.

I also applaud you on wanting to make the gun safer.

And while I agree here that arresting officers (if one were to get arrested) in a self defense shooting may not recognize there’s no magazine disconnect, a DA wanting to make an example AND a name for him/herself has nothing but time and money to employ experts to pile on as many charges as possible in efforts to dissuade others from using their Constitutionally guaranteed 2A rights. Again, just my opinion, but on the minuscule chance I had to employ my weapon in self defense, I’d want as many legalities to be as unquestionable as possible in my favor - especially the ones I have control over.

In most shooting cases the suspected firearm used will be sent to a firearms examiner for inspection and ballistics comparison

Soooo, I just re-read the original post, and you bought the gun and it came without the magazine disconnect. IF it came that way and you did nothing to modify it, I continue to see nothing to worry about. Im guessing you bought it from or through a dealer who knowingly or not did the legal transfer to you.

You should do what you think is best for you but what I keep hearing is not having a magazine disconnect is unsafe--its NOT unsafe. The magazine disconnect has nothing to do with the safety mechanism. It simple means you can shoot the gun without the magazine in place. Saying its not safe is like saying magazines over 10 rounds arent safe....

I see no issue either other, than operator discomfort. I can't see any illegal activity by the user.
