i want to build an echelon.

I am not sure where to post this. However, does anyone know if I can buy just the Echelon COG?(central operating group) I know I can do what i want with the p365. However, I want to build a Springfield. If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Interesting question. Perhaps a call to SA customer service is in order. As you know, the COG is the serialized part of the handgun and would ship to an FFL. I'd be interested in your project. Please let us know how it goes. Contact info in the link below.

I've heard that phone calls are better than emails. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

Not yet anyways. I hope that when they do, it's listed as "other" on the 4473. Even though it's the control unit for the Echelon right now, it wouldn't take much to design a PDW around it.
It's the only piece I need for Echelon #2.

Not yet, but there are aftermarket grip modules. But since you need the slide as well, you might as well just buy the pistol and then customize it. With no aftermarket slides yet the cog is useless without a slide.

They will not sell me a beaver tail grip safety for my Prodigy, or a slide stop, or anything other than a spring. They want me to send gun to them for a replacement. I am sure it is a liability issue. (Why does he want a replcement).
It is there way of being in the gun game, without being in the gun game.

Why isn't it a liability issue with almost all other firearm manufacturers, small and large? I'm not sure about it being a liability issue, but I am sure it's a terrible business decision.

Part of the reason why the Beretta 92, CZ 75 variants, Glocks, 1911s, AR15s, SIG P365/P320, AR15s, S&W and Ruger revolvers, etc., etc., are so popular is the accessibility of spare and aftermarket parts. The most popular manufacturers, from guns to cars to washing machines to Traeger and Weber grills and so on, all support their product and make it easy for users to service their investment.

There's a vacuum in the modular duty pistol category with fallout from the P320, and the management at Springfield are blowing a golden opportunity.

Take any major fireworks manufacturer, they have great confidence that a commercial grade mortar produced by thier qualified assemblers will perform as expected when combined with a well qualified group of technicians and safety crew at a 4th of July production.
The reason that manufacturer will not sell the instructions or ingredients to construct that same mortar is the insuing liability in the event of a mishap causing catastrophic injury. That is where liability comes into play.
Changing a burner in a cat litter heater (Traeger) is not even close.
