In Illinois more downstate counties have voted to split from Chicago. It will be back on the November ballots this year.

Your Democrat party at work. Illinois's normal tactic is to put out a bill that is so out there, unreasonable and unworkable that after the amend it back to what they actually are hoping for it will sound reasonable by comparison.

As in see, we wanted to serialize and register every single cartridge ( and component?) but we'll settle for no mail order sales and recording all in state sales with ID (FOID) name and address, type etc.


Here’s what HB-4414 actually does:

1. Requires all handgun ammo sold or made in Illinois to be serialized
2. Requires all rifle ammo that could be fired in an SBR/SBS to be serialized
3. Requires the State Police to track the sale of every round of ammo sold
4. Allows the State Police to charge $.05 for every round of ammo sold
5. Puts anyone who possesses unserialized ammo in a ‘public place’ in prison

This bill is moving through the committee process fast!

I understand the technology exists to laser engrave serial numbers during manufacturing but the registration is onerous on several levels.
