As far as customer service goes here is a great example. I bought a Ruger Redhawk at a pawn shop years ago. It was good but had a lot of scratches and wear but it shot good so I didn't care. I bought it to bum around in the woods anyway. After having it for awhile I noticed it was shaving lead so figured it needed some parts replaced to get it back in time. Called Ruger and explained the situation and letting them know I was not the original owner, they sent me a RMA number and I sent it off with a note explaining the whole thing and to go through it and let me know what it would cost for the repairs. About 10 days later, it was returned to me. I opened the box and had to go check the serial number I wrote down because I thought they sent me a new pistol. Nope, refinished the entire gun, replace a few worn parts, and the bill said no charge. That's customer service.I've had a couple of Kimbers and they were ok guns but nothing to write home about. Then I bought a Kimber Raptor and from the very first shots it shot about 2ft low and 2 ft left. No matter how I gripped the pistol it continued shooting this way. I had a couple of other firearms instructors shoot it with the same results. No problem, that's what customer service is for, right? Called up Kimber and the lady I talked to on the phone was the worst customer service person in the world. She kept getting snippy with me and finally said it's probably not the gun , it's just you. OK, ma'am, don't worry, I'll never buy another Kimber thanks to her. That was years ago.
Recently one of my firearm instructor co-workers brought out his Kimber 2311, after shooting it, I really want to give them another chance but my feelings about how I was treated before just won't let me.
was going to ask if the "girl you were dating" was on the trophy board posted a while back, but decided that would be in bad taste. LOLSpringfield Armory over Kimber every day of the week for me. Having owned/extensively shot both. Part of that are the features offered. Kimbers in my experience were reliable and accurate, but I don't like the muzzle heavy feel of a cone barrel on their shorter models. Now the shortest 1911 I own is a Commander. The shorty Officer's Model Springer was reliable for me, but the girl I was dating at the time had function problems that disappeared when a full size Government model was carried again. Then I realized it was not any easier to carry a short barrel, as it is the butt that is hard to hide. A Concealed Carry Officers model, short grip and Commander length is what Springfield needs to crank out. True Commander with a bushing, not a coned barrel. I would buy a couple today.
they call that hoarding in most places but I like it lolI kinda like my Kimbers-all of them-
