Is there anything the 1911 can’t do?

It's fairly common knowledge (or used to be) that the 1911 can be detail-stripped using no tools. The manual safety can be worried out with your fingers, and its pin is then used to extract the firing pin, which is used as a punch for everything else. The bent leaf on the sear spring gets the mag catch out (and locks it back in). ;)

But how many here know that if your recoil spring plug shoots off into the bushes while you're disassembling your 1911, you can replace it with a fired .45ACP case? :oops: It'll last at least a few shots, until you can procure a replacement.
